My dad turns 80 this week. Many memories were shared of our family ice cream (frozen custard) recipe that claims to go back over 100 years. But it changes every generation or so as people try to fix it because it usually turns out like frozen vanilla soup.

For posterity, here are some variations. 🧵
Not enough to make me move back from the suburbs … but good riddance! Seattle is a wonderful place but SPD and SPOG have long been … eyesores (teargas and rubber bullets hurt!) … and if she can scare away his likes just by being there, maybe her aura will extend south to Pierce County's sheriff.
Watch out, she's already moved on to pig blood!

Breaking news isn't a reason to skip alt text. Alt text is MORE important in a crisis.

Imagine how disorienting this is, now imagine not being able to see what all these viral posts depict.

After almost 2 weeks off work (and a couple months distracted by other projects), I _finally_ got out to the shop to resume work on the kid's bed. I forgot what a pain it is to cut proper square miters on a table saw. Because this is wood, I had to cut these at 44.8° in order to get a 90° corner.

FFS what's the point of ordering from DoorDash if everything is labeled as "Description generated by DoorDash using AI"? How can I trust that something labeled "vegetarian" actually is, especially when it seems like DoorDash just invented variations that aren't on the restaurant's own website?

Great breakdown from @madewithlayers.bsky.social about the new @prusa3d.com OCL. TLDW:

- may not apply to CAD/source files, anyway
- probably doesn't limit what people do with printed objects (neither do CC licenses)
- doesn't define "community open"

I'll add a couple more of my own below… 🧵
Prusa's OCL is... weird.

Remember the MegaLag exposé about Honey a year ago? Well, part 2 posted a couple weeks ago and part 3 showed up today. His data is at least a few years old but it continues to paint a damning picture of Honey' behavior both before and after PayPal acquisition.

My wife splurged on some ProtoPasta copper filament for us for Christmas. What would you print? Shiny or patina? I mostly design/print functional stuff so I'm always terrible at figuring out what to do with "fancy" materials.

With real Copper powder, we've created a metal-filled high-temp PLA (HTPLA) filament for 3D prints. When polished, it has the same bright finish of real metal.

I'm sorry … what?! @propublica.org I support you specifically because your team produces high quality FACT-BASED reporting. You throw all trustworthiness out the window as soon as you start using even a little AI-generated content (especially if you don't label it!).
1/ At bargaining yesterday, @propublica.org management said that they should have 100% discretion to replace workers with AI and would not commit to labeling future AI-generated content.

They may look asleep but my cats somehow got ahold of a credit card and contributed to the #P4A matching fund.

If you have the means, the Project for Awesome is an incredible livestream event in February and your money will go to many great causes that help make the world suck less.

Since @joeltelling.bsky.social and @davidtobin.bsky.social haven't posted reminders here … the 3D Printing Nerd charity livestream starts in a few minutes. I'm sure there will be cool prizes but @seattlechildrens.org is a great charity to support (despite backtracking on some gender-affirming care).

I've been an @altonbrown.bsky.social fan for decades but it's great to see his true humor leak out when not hindered by the Food Network age-appropriate censors. Love these new videos. These look great but I still want a low-carb version because those gluten-free flours tend to make the CGM go ⬆️⬆️.

For fuck's sake, are you trying to win a prize for the most logical fallacies in a single thread?

Start with France as an example. Seems to work for them, whether talking healthcare or … other things from history.

Please @murray.senate.gov @cantwell.senate.gov explain to your colleagues like @warren.senate.gov that this bill does NOT protect kids. It puts LGBTQ+ kids at risk, and sets up all kinds of problematic rules that endanger the privacy and speech of ALL of your constituents (including adults)!
Just heard disappointing news that @warren.senate.gov will co-sponsor the Kids Online Safety Act again despite overwhelming opposition from LGBTQ, human rights, abortion rights, and racial justice groups.

This is a horrific betrayal of her constituents, particularly trans youth and their families.

Any/all of them? I've never understood this ability to get enjoyment out of something you've already watched/read/listened when there are so many new-to-me movies/books not yet experienced, and only a limited amount of time in the day.
Never mind movies you’ve watched multiple times, name a movie you’ve watched once and would never watch again.

Ugh, ran into this #PrusaSlicer bug again. Still not fixed after 2 years. 😔 I've only seen it while printing honeycomb storage wall with 0.8 nozzles, but it means checking everything I slice or forgetting and wasting a bunch of time/filament on a reprint. Hopefully @prusa3d.com fixes it in v3.

160 years ago, the 13th Amendment was ratified, ending slavery. But that amendment came with a sinister loophole: a Slavery Clause that allowed for slavery “as punishment for crime.”

People are all sharing this approvingly, but the reason Halle Berry is mad at Gavin Newsom is because her scam AI menopause supplement health woo company can't bleed taxpayers because of the bill he vetoed.

A pox on all of their houses.
"...Newsom has vetoed our menopause bill, not one but two years in a row. But that's OK, because he's not going to be governor forever. And with the way he's overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be our next president either."

First time printing ASA on my #PrusaXL and:

- it doesn't automatically use the entire bed to heat the chamber.
- it refuses to turn on the enclosure fan even a tiny amount (not even manual override!) to prevent fumes leaking out and smelling up my office (VOC sensor hovering around "unhealthy").
