Gufittars are dwarves who live underground from Sami mythology. They're all male & sometimes come to the surface with herds of cattle. If you approach them with a piece of iron, the Gufittar will disappear & the cattle will be yours.

Guajona are blood-sucking creatures from Cantabrian legends in Spain. They look like traditional medieval depictions of witches & have a singular tooth that they use to drink blood.

Gryphons/ griffins are beasts with the heads & wings of eagles and the bodies of lions. Their name derive from the Greek, grups, meaning "curved or hooked nose." But they originate in Mesopotamian art. In Greco- Roman myth, they guarded rich deposits of gold in the mountains of Scythia.

Grýla is a people eating giantess from Icelandic mythology. Originally a jotun, she's now a Christmas bogeyman who eats naughty children alongside her husband, Leppaluði. They're also the parents of the mischievous Yule Lads.

Gruvrået (Miner's Lady) lives in mines in Swedish mythology. She usually appears as an elegant woman in a gray dress, but if her dress is black, she portends death in the mine. She's the guardian of the mines & can warn the miners of dangers & guide them to rich ore veins.

Gruagach (the hairy one, long-haired, goblin, wight, enchanter, wizard-like) is a type of solitary fairy from Irish & Scottish Gaelic lore. They're tall, hairy wild men. Alternatively, in Scotland the term sometimes refers to fairy women dressed in green or slender, handsome fairy men.

Grogoch (hairy) are solitary all male fairies from Irish mythology. They're very small elderly men covered in coarse, dense reddish hair or fur and they wear no clothes. They live out in nature but also do chores in human homes.

Groac'h is a fairy from Breton mythology. The name might mean old woman or be a term for druid priestesses. She's a beautiful yet malevolent fairy who lives in an underwater palace. She appears in the Breton fairy tale, The Groac’h of the Isle of Lok.

Grendel is a monster in Beowulf & the Anglo- Saxon Chronicle. He's described as a monster, probably a giant who lives in aquatic areas, like fens and marshes. He was killed by Beowulf & his mother then attempted to avenge him & was also killed.

Greip is a figure from Norse myth. In Þórsdrápa, she is a daughter of Geirröðr, and the sister of Gjálp. The sisters hid beneath a chair so that when Thor sat down, they lifted the seat up towards the roof to crush him. But Thor pushed up against the rafters hard & broke their backs.

The Green Man is a mysterious figure from European mythology. He appears carved on churches as a leafy face, but was also a figure in medieval & Renaissance plays. Sometimes he carried fireworks. He is most likely pre- Christian in origin & is probably a symbol of fertility & rebirth.
