I appreciate these shows because they often provide a welcome respite from the chaos and absurdity. Insisting that every show must center around comedy is no different from the mindset a decade ago, when critics dismissed any cartoon lacking lore as inferior.

Discourse surrounding slice-of-life and lore-driven shows has become increasingly prominent. As someone who enjoys zany, unconventional series and recognizes that excessive exposure can lead to fatigue, I believe that slice-of-life shows are not inherently flawed.

33.) Rocko’s Modern Life is the superior over-the-top NickToon of the early 1990s. Even if you ignore its predecessor’s awful creator, it has more consistently inventive craziness than Ren & Stimpy and more of a point to its insanity compared to that other show.
