I’m genuinely trying to get my mind to stick to a schedule, but the problem is things keep happening and my mind gets entirely diverted to getting everyone out of crisis mode and all my projects get delayed by weeks or years and it’s just gonna be like that for the foreseeable future

And at this point you need to treat it more like combat because that is what it is. When they are at this point they will see any attempt at compromise as weakness to exploit. So you either need to choose to take on the energy of a fight or shut communication down completely

And I think where people get it twisted is that they don’t recognize when their loved ones have already dropped off, so they think a gentle parenting style can still work. But once they’ve been steeped in hate for too long they will see any tepid pushback as an attack, and go for the jugular

So the thing is, if you have friends/family who are starting to have some problematic views *but haven’t hit the radicalization cliff yet*, the kill-em-with-kindness approach can SOMETIMES be effective in steering them away from said cliff. Once they go off it though, strategy needs to shift
