The second dragon, this time on a fragment of 80s cross stitch Dimension kit called 'A Taste of the Southwest' (Miami Vice pastels!). I found 2 of these fully stitched at Goodwill, have seen others.

A lavender green dragon hovers beyond a pink-blooming cactus set against a backdrop of pink and purple desert landscape. I did not stitch the cactus, only the dragon.

Just me, embroidering a dragon into someone else's Sonoran Desert cross stitch.

Found art! A Sonoran Desert cross stitch (kit or original design, unknown, no signature) framed at Michael's, then donated to Goodwill an unknown time later.
This will get borders on it, and turned into a very fancy needle book that you might see in the art show at TusCon next month.

I don't buy many shoes at thrift stores. Too problematic, from cleanliness to wear defects. But these Y2K minimalist Privo mules from Clarke's are an expection. Very little wear. Kept in good storage: these 25+ year-old shoes have buttery soft leather uppers and intact vinyl/rubber soles.

Bone-cream leather mule slip-on shoes with squared toes and flexible front soles, elastic closures, and bone leather decorative ties on the outer sides. Mine are caramel brown vinyl soles instead of the pictured black.

I love mine because they're nearly pristine, they FIT, and the style can be anything from French contemporary to Renaissance to futuristic cosplay. And I got them for $4.29, far less than the $35 shown on Ebay or the original $150 retail!

Shoes are dangerous in thrift stores. If they've been stored badly the materials can heat-rot (RIP newish Bandolino ice pink sandals that I didn't check until years after I bagged & put them away! The leather lining cracked & vinyl had gone slimy-sticky, no fixing that.)

These Privos got gently washed in cold water & leather soap, dried on block forms. When completely dry, they'll get treated with a mild beeswax leather conditioner. Score!
