Indeed. Most people don't realise what polices the Tories had in the past. What is now totally unacceptable even for a Labour government was standard for Tory governments: social housing; top rates of income tax; nationalised essential services etc.

Not sure if you'd class it as genuinely scary or not but we watched The Others with our son last year who was 9 at the time.

Everything is easier when you're younger unfortunately.

Keen to know how you get on and what, if anything, works for you. Because I'm the same: no ability to force myself to do the things. Before COVID I got down to more or less my ideal weight but now I'm back to where I was and as I'm six years older I feel worse than ever.

I don't think many people understand this. There were still some awful bigots in Thatcher and Major's governments but they knew their ideas were becoming outdated and unlike recent governments, they didn't tend to be selected for ministerial positions specifically based on their worst opinions.

Lazy ignorant drivers are incredibly creative: show them a pavement, a patch of grass, some yellow or red lines or a disabled bay and they'll turn it into a car park just for them.

If the right accuse the left of something (terrorist sympathising, communism, antisemitism etc) the media will ask the left to defend themselves from that charge.

If the left accuse the right of something (racism, fascism, colonialism), the media will ask the left to justify that charge.

So that arsehole Streeting has done what no one will be surprised by and hired an Oxbridge Prof previously dubbed "the most hated doctor in Britain" to look into supposed overdiagnosis of mental health conditions and neurodivergence.

I grew up in Lancashire and large parts of it are fairly typical of post-industrial areas where racist rhetoric (whether overt or subtle) is most effective.
