Lyla thinks it's a totally natural and logical response to something like war. Signing up isn't the same as being in it, normal fear is different from active betrayal, etc. She may chastise depending on the situation, but executing someone for cowardice is just ridiculous to her and not her style

Lyla planned ahead, sent a carbuncle with a luminescent guide line, has aquatic mounts, etc, and knew herself enough to know that she should not go down there alone. It's one time she's immediately able to take the advice she'd give to others in such a situation

Lyse was completely happy to help

Lyla is underwater in Loch Seld, riding her Citrine carbuncle mount. Ruins can be seen deep below her in the dim water. There's a tunnel that leads to the Drowned City of Skalla. Glowing crystalline things sit outside the tunnel, atop the ruins of stone towers.

Relationship decay from time and distance doesn't happen to her, she doesn't think of them any differently from close-distance relationships, and she deals with them in the same ways whether they're romantic or not. It's all very normal to her as a Moon Keeper
