elites have got no idea just how apocalyptically angry ordinary people are about this shit

That is a man who has completely lost every shred of decency he may have once possessed.

I've seen a lot of things in my 50+ years, but even after all we've seen the past decade, I *never, ever* imagined I'd see in America what we saw yesterday and I'm hearing Vance say today. It's just jaw-dropping stuff, and ought to shock the conscience of every one of us.

The irony of our politics going in the direction they’re going while so many indicators of societal health (crime, teen pregnancy, alcohol consumption, etc.) are pointing in the opposite direction is… I don’t have any explanation for it, actually.

I’m about a third of the way through her ‘These Truths,’ and it’s phenomenal too.

MLK said once we're a "10-day nation" -- that one of the central challenges for his movement was that the nation couldn't be expected to focus on anything much longer than a week. And that was in the 60s!

I do think the accumulation of events over time has a greater effect than we realize, though.

You summed it up perfectly.

What is "mani-pilled"?

Really interesting -- and interesting that at least some politicians are starting to understand this, like Vivek Ramaswamy a few days ago:

Opinion | Social Media Is a Trap for Politicians
I’m swearing off Instagram and X, where it’s too easy to get a distorted sense of the public’s concerns.

Must-read - I've long thought the effects of social media on the mass public are likely overrated but their effects on elites are underrated
New, from me: The Trump administration isn’t just using social media to shape a narrative. They view the world through a social media lens in a way that is plausibly corrupting their judgment and undermining their performance.

my heart is just completely broken for this woman, killed trying to protect her community and her friends, and for all the people of Minneapolis, who always seems to unfairly caught in the crosshairs of our national malaise

A 23 year old larping as a journalist made a misleading and inaccurate YouTube video that the administration full of chronically online shitposters used to justify the “largest immigration operation ever” and now someone is dead

Let’s see how people react when they find out that, to do all these invasions and nation building efforts, they’re gonna need to bring back the draft.

The man is simply not a President at all by any definition. He is not faithfully executing the laws nor tending to the needs of the people. He has no concept of national interest or sense of duty.

He is a corrupt insatiable jackal.

All those years I listened to people tell me how strong the GOP was on national security, and the party now wants to break every alliance we have.

Does favorable mean the court rules for Trump or against?
January 6, 2026 at 8:25 PM
So we’re just going to kidnap any leader of any nation we want to, if Trump decides they’re not “working constructively” with us?

Can you imagine how awful is must be to *be* Matt Walsh?

I’d guess his whole life now depends on him serving up this bile for his audience every day, so he can never get another job doing anything else — he’s basically chained to this for the rest of life.

Ugh.

I cannot believe that a decade of failure in Iraq was apparently not enough and we’re actually doing this again.

Absolute madness.

Commentators will see this and other price level numbers that seem to be trending lower — which is a good thing — yet the cost of insurance never/rarely gets discussed when we talk about prices/inflation.

For me and everyone I know, it’s done nothing but skyrocket these past few years.

That, and they wanted to be seen doing it — they want to reinforce the degree to which they’re breaking with the rules-based int’l system. (It’s *insane*, but that seems to be what they’re up to.)

Surely as a great power we can take this nonessential piece of land and not be drawn into a massive generational conflict that destroys the world economy.

Now to take a sip of water and open my history book.
