The AI bubble is so out of control most RAM manufacturers have stopped manufacturing RAM for pcs and shifted to high bandwidth RAM for AI computing. There's now such a severe shortage that prices have jump 3-4x in just a month and it is impacting the ability to supply PCs and gaming consoles.

If you think women here can't be forced backwards...

These are women in Parliament in Iran in the mid-1970's.

Their decline feels familiar.

A reaction to women having too many rights.
A fear of what was happening to traditional family.
A desire for younger wives.
A closing of the fist.

Today, say thanks to those who help maintain open-source. The entire modern world runs on critically, tragically under-funded open-source, and would crumble without it.

I finally got a chance to read “Strategic Software Engineering” by Filipe Ximenes, and it is fantastic. It is broken into four chapters: Self-Management, Technical Discipline, Risk Management, and Strategic Teamwork. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for software engineers!

New study on LLMs shows that while LLMs & humans converge on similar judgments of reliability of news media, they rely on very different underlying processes.

In delegating, are we confusing linguistic plausibility with epistemic reliability?

I’ve done the same. I have a much healthier relationship with social media since ditching Twitter.
I've been off X for an entire year now. I can't tell you just how much my mental health has improved. I have so much less anxiety from not getting death threats all the time. It's one of the best moves I've ever done. Instead, I've picked up skiing, hiking, cooking, and playing the cuatro.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

If you're trying to convince your friends to spend time on Bluesky rather than X, maybe show them this. X is not "the public town square" or about "free speech." It's "just what Elon Musk wants you to see." If you see stuff he doesn't like he'll step in to make sure you don't see it for long.
If you scroll on X, you are only being shown what Elon wants you to see. If you create content on X, no one will see it unless Elon wants them to.
