"If it wasn’t obvious before, the administration’s latest actions and hateful rhetoric make it abundantly clear that following the rules, personal merit, and character mean little.

In Trump’s America, racial hierarchy is everything."

If you are an immigrant or even a naturalized citizen from a non-European country, you likely are included as those whom the president deemed “non-compatible with Western Civilization.”

There are supposedly serious people who have argued that this *isn't* a white supremacist regime and they should not be taken seriously ever again.
Trump, continued: "What the Somalian people have done to Minnesota is not even believable. It’s not even believable. And a lot of it starts with the governor. A lot of it starts with Barack HUSSEIN Obama, because that’s when people started coming in... They want to kiss our country good night."

So this anthology is out in the world now and I have a short story in it — "Perséfoni in the City." Put this on your holiday shopping list because many of these stories and essays are truly amazing. (I'm currently obsessed with Laia Asieo Odo's devastatingly moving "Where Memory Meets the Sea.")
WE WILL RISE AGAIN, an anthology of speculative fiction, essays, & interviews about activism co-edited by @drkarenlord.bsky.social @annaleen.bsky.social & yours truly, comes out TOMORROW which means today is the last day you can show the love by pre-ordering! www.simonandschuster.com/books/We-Wil...

I'm not much of a George Will fan, but this couple of sentences are dead on: "The killing of the survivors by this moral slum of an administration should nauseate Americans. A nation incapable of shame is dangerous, not least to itself."

Opinion | A sickening moral slum of an administration
Regarding Venezuela, Ukraine and much more, Trump and his acolytes are worse than simply incompetent.

Libraries are probably the last free Third Space that you can use year-round, too. Librarians are there to help you, and they fight for your right to read, and your privacy. We connect people with services and ideas and experiences. Libraries are powerful and awesome.
Libraries aren't just books. They provide gathering places, free internet, and programs like story hours and classes and films. Using your library demonstrates to your local government its importance to your community and can affect funding decisions.

Reprehensible.
The White House just launched a "Media Bias" tracker to supposedly monitor fake news. It's really a hit list of reporters & outlets covering issues in ways Trump & the admin dislike. Flagrant attack on independent thought, freedom of the press & free speech. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Trump makes the outrageous claim that “most” immigrants, which include over 25 million U.S. citizens, “are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels.”

As insulting as the “deplorables” comment, and on Thanksgiving day no less.

This rhetoric is indistinguishable from the stuff you hear coming out of white nationalists. Completely identical language.

Among other things, the (nebulous but clearly unconstitutional) attack on naturalized US citizens contained in this screed is a significant escalation.
