I have things to do. Banal things, but things just the same.
I was just wondering about this

I have a friend who can guess bands by their wikipedia genre list. The worst he has done is include the answer in a list of three (it was the first in the list)

@craigcalcaterra.bsky.social your post about hair metal made me think of some classic rock i didnt like. I have a friend that can guess a band from it’s wiki genres. Can you? I did not tell him it was classic rock.

This is how my wife looked at all of us last night before she went to bed. "Enjoy your week off"

I am much, much younger than Craig. But to his point, hair metal was enemy number 1 and for me, classic rock was enemy number 2. 60s (and late 50s) rock and roll and psychodelia was almost a part of gen-x music.
As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Your enemy, if you absolutely needed one, was hair metal. GTFO here with this.

I think most of my followers on here subscribe to @craigcalcaterra.bsky.social newsletter, but if not, here is a thing I wrote for the newsletter about my sister who died of cancer 6 years ago. frank4.substack.com/p/what-we-ar...

I did it 35 minutes ago, Charlie Brown.

Too many catholics on the Eagles. They were crushed by guilt, not Cowboys

I would say it’s not fair to be judged on your worst day, but as an American, we are doing everything that is happening. And we will be the ones who change it. Creating 2 americas is always dangerous.

I saw a post that followed this form:

Can’t believe what USA is doing …

There’s no coming back from this …

And I find it interesting that the form persists. There is no depravity i can’t believe USA could commit, and we simply have to come back, or we give up.

@craigcalcaterra.bsky.social i feel like this is part of the Nuzzi story. The reminder that behind all these ridiculous people are real people.
Apart from being a heartbreaking meditation on death, the fury Tatiana Schlossberg feels towards her shithead cousin RFK Jr. radiates off this piece www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
A Battle with My Blood
When I was diagnosed with leukemia, my first thought was that this couldn’t be happening to me, to my family.

You don't need to qualify the way US is a petrostate. The USA is a petrostate. Under all leaders and parties. It is not the Russians who dictate this, it is greed. Texas tea, black gold, bubblin crude, free money. And unless we have a major cultural shift, it will just keep burning. smh

I thought you were quoting RFK in his sexts to the reporter.

Mayors have to be more practical than any other politician. It owns the internet to give a sweet burn, but NYC has to work with its cops.

the Worshipful Master then whispers "Mah-Ha-Bone" into the ear of the candidate. "Mah-Ha-Bone" is the substitute for the Master's Word. It means, "What, the Builder!"

I just read this quote in a newsletter, "I’ve never met anyone, including myself, who landed their dream job by AI optimizing their application and sending 100 of them a week. It’s always someone you know. And it isn’t nepotism, it’s trust."

I think it is nepotism.
