i have agreed with stancil and i have disagreed with stancil. he has sharp elbows. but the accusation that he is a raging transphobe is not connected to reality. and the weaponization of "i'm listening to trans people" to smear someone because you disagree about fucking econ polling is disgusting
No, I do not “pick on” trans people, I have never done anything like this. And frankly, I think the willingness of some people to completely invent accusations of transphobia in the desperate search for a cudgel against ideological opponents suggests they don’t really care about transphobia
Listen dude, you can try and ride for this guy all you want, but the trans userbase of this platform fucking hates him because he picks on them. I'm going to listen to the trans people I know who are telling me he's bad. Plus I've been in these threads and seen it

Oh wow hey guys major update it turns out that sports are all meaningless bullshit designed to artificially create 'news' stories and provide release to our neanderthal core.
This could literally describe any sports

Also: guy kicks ball misses. Guy looses game. They ask guy what he do next time. He say better. No soefucicplsn given. This somehow gets 24 hrs of airtime over and over again. Adult men in suits analyze the same guy running down the field ten thousand times.
Did a very mediocre Cowboys team just embarrass the Eagles?

CHOTINER: “So, Eclipse is your #29 game of all time.”

ME: “Yep! Instant classic. Haven’t played it in a couple years.”

CHOTINER: “Since then, you’ve played how many other games?”

ME: “… a couple hundred.”

CHOTINER: “So two hundred times, you’ve chosen a different game than your #29.”

ME: “wait”

I'm reminded of how the management of Star Wars Galaxies fired the community manager because the players were unhappy with the New Game Experience that fundamentally tried to change a Star Wars virtual world simulator into something combat first, only half-assed.

My grandma "accidentally" set the oven to clean when my mom (her daughter) was making her "famous" meatloaf and we were forced to go out to eat instead.

Years later I asked her if she did it on purpose and she said "You've had your mother's cooking. What do you think"

I am no fancy economic analysis but it feels like the cause and effect may be reversed.

For your consideration, try "The economy sucks so people are holding onto their phones longer than they used to."
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever and it's costing the economy
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever before, and while it may be consumer smart, it comes at a cost to work productivity and the U.S. economy.

It would be awesome, but we would have to pass a lot of legislation to get there. The biggest barrier by far here is not a party rules vote (though I would be a very easy yes vote there), it’s that most primaries are run by states that don’t use RCV. bsky.app/profile/andr...
I was at this breakfast and meeting and am the biggest RCV guy you’ll meet, but I don’t want people to get their hopes up about this being in place nationally for 2028.

A vast majority of Presidential primaries are run by states that don’t use RCV. You gotta change state laws.
Democratic politicians and activists are quietly lobbying to upend the way the party picks its presidential nominee by urging the use of ranked-choice voting.
November 24, 2025 at 7:40 PM
Ranked Choice would be a great choice for the primaries. It would dramatically boost the odds of a strong non-establishment candidate to win as well as reduce their ability to complain if that candidate loses.

Scoop: Democrats eye ranked-choice voting for 2028 primaries
It's a tool that drew national attention when it propelled New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani to a decisive primary win.

It goes on and on like this. All Mamdani had to do was not hate the Dems QUITE enough to their liking, and the leftists turn on him.

You'd think after a fucking DECADE or so of Trump repeatedly proving that politics doesn't obey the same principles as social media cancel culture, it would sink in.

Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

Look, this is gonna sound weird, but if you're gonna blow up your marriage by doing something stupid, I'm gonna lose some respect for you. But if your something stupid involves talking dirty to a bot instead of slapping actual flesh with another human, I'm gonna lose WAY more respect for you.
one of the more bleak aspects of ai chatbots is it’s starting to blow up real marriages

I’ve done some experimentation. Because of the nature of AI, it’s brainstormed ideas will always be retreads of other ideas. All the ideas will be beige, bland.

Maybe reasonable if you need a ton of filler at scale, bad if you want anything that feels special or unique.
"ChatGPT is great for brainstorming!"

Actually we have a tool for that already! It's called thinking. We use our brain. It's called brainstorming! Clue is in the name.

People think that this didn’t happen, but you have to factor in that RFK is a gullible idiot that doesn’t actually know anything. You could show him a map of Narnia and call it the Middle East and he’d just tighten his tinfoil hat.
“One day [trump] sat on the plane with me. We were talking about Syria, and he drew a map of the Mideast for me. And it was a perfect map,” Kennedy told me. “Then he drew in the troop strength of each country, and also the troop strength on various borders.”
NEW: When RFK Jr. first told Trump that Tylenol might cause autism, the president wanted to tweet out a warning. Kennedy told him not to do that. There was nuance, and the drug companies would push back. “I don’t give a shit about that,” Trump responded. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...

Having worked on MMOs for much of my career — all of which by nature have heavily online and engaged fanbases — one of the biggest problems your design and community teams have to deal with is charismatic idiots.
One of the producers on Guilty Gear Strive said it was basically impossible to source player feedback on balance changes online because nobody had original opinions and would just parrot what the most popular content creators said and so they had to rely on data and I think about that every day.
