I have literally been too busy to post about it, but if you've heard rumours that we bought our town's cinema and now run it, those rumours are true. CINEMA FOREVER!

A man at my gym sauna did a full on workout - including bicycle kicks and floor stretches. Inside the sauna. While I was also in the sauna. Not doing any of those things.

This month in 2016 I ran my first ever 10km. It took me 1:06:42. My best effort! This week I did an easy 10km training run at conversational pace and it took a minute longer. And that time included stopping at every traffic light. In life and #running progress is easily missed.

I don’t think being able to see a wind-sock from my house is helping with my marathon training?
My long run days involve a lot of forlornly standing at the window watching it. #run #wellington

We can spend $6M (NZD) over 10 years on a pretty good fence, or $42M for a Zealandia-level pest control fence that will transform this ecosystem. So we just need a billionaire to find $36M under the couch cushion please.

I had forgotten that following a running plan in Wellington is 10% actual running.
The rest is constantly looking at the wind forecast and adjusting the plan.

I checked the weather before my 50minute run this morning. No rain until this afternoon, said the MetService. So I went out into the wind and got caught in a downpour. It was a nice run - but now the sky looks like this? That’s what you get for choosing to live in Wellington I guess.

I was testing my work co-pilot access today. Also, I’ve been trying to make a first marathon training plan by splicing various plans. So I prompted co-pilot to design a plan. I particularly like the “resty” day and the long runs ahead of the 24k runs.

After years of being curious about my lineage, I finally received my ancestry results. Apparently I'm 12% Scottish Highlands cottage, 16% used bookstore, 9% October, 13% cat rescue, 11% rainswept cobblestone side street, 7% dimly-lit café in Prague, 17% scone, and 15% Oxford comma.

Last night at a Throwing Muses gig - while I was just trying to absorb every gram of Kristen Hersh’s musical intensity and genius - the man next to me in the crowd checked his LinkedIn notifications.

CHECKED. HIS. LinkedIn!
In the fifth row.
Sir, absolutely not.

Just finished Persuasion. It took an extra month to do six Austens in six months (thanks to some big trips and reading distractions this year). But #JaneAustenBookClub has been a pocket of sanity in a word of chaos this year.

Numbers are fun.

427 students at 8 charter schools is an average of 54 students per school.

$10.9 million divided by 8 charter schools is $1.362 million per school.

Or about $25.5k per student.

State schools are 9k per student.

The number of enrolments had been kept under wraps after the agency told the privately-run, state-funded schools not to reveal their numbers while still setting up.
