I very very very rarely give travel advice.

But here is my one bit of advice.

Stay near a landmark. It doesn't have to be a BIG landmark just one when you hop in a cab and the guy asks "where are you going" you can reference said landmark without needing to pull up the data address in your phone

one of the wildest stories i've seen in a minute: twin brothers who previously pled guilty to hacking the State Department while gov't contractors... got new jobs as gov't contractors.... then allegedly deleted a bunch of gov't data... and were just arrested again.

The brothers worked for a contractor and previously pled guilty for hacking into the State Department.

I hope all the folks standing behind Trump feel real good about being the backdrop for the racist ravings of a jerk.
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

Donald Trump wants to be recognized as a peacemaker.

His deputies obliged today by putting his name on the headquarters of the U.S. Institute of Peace, an agency that DOGE tried to kill.

The new name — the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace — "adds insult to injury," said a lawyer for USIP staff.
Building gets a new name: The ‘Donald J. Trump’ Institute of Peace
The change comes as Trump’s administration has touted his peace deals and ahead of a signing of a deal between the leaders from Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo this week.

I've been closely covering the USIP situation since March and am currently in the midst of a lawsuit for body cam footage of the raid.
NEW — I'm suing DC Metro Police for the full body cam footage from the DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace back in March.

The public deserves to know why MPD chose to sell out the people they’re tasked with protecting in order to bend to Trump's will. I'm repped pro bono by @rcfp.org.

As a reminder: The USIP building was raided and taken over by DOGE (with assistance from federal and local law enforcement) despite being an independent agency and owner of the building. Litigation is ongoing, but Trump does not own this building.

A White House official said the building is now "beautifully and aptly named" and "will stand as a powerful reminder of what strong leadership can accomplish"

"Congratulations, world!" WH spokeswoman Anna Kelly wrote in an email.

Also, I believe @marisakabas.bsky.social had this first —

Two things:

1) How can people floating in open water continue a drug run? Swim a thousand miles towing a crate?

2) More importantly, drugs are not weapons, and a drug run is not a national security threat, especially not an immediate one to the world's most powerful navy.
A top admiral is expected to tell lawmakers tomorrow that he and his legal adviser concluded that the two survivors of a boat strike in September were attempting to continue their drug run, making them and the damaged vessel legitimate targets for another attack.
