wow that's impressive flan-boy! i honestly don't trust our hammocks...
furthermoore.bsky.social
and that's why i think anarchism is so exciting! we are doing away with the chaos of modern governments that destroy the earth and oppress people and making an ordered world where people can choose to rule themselves right now!

that's all for now. as always, #meow for anarchy!

from autonomous Chiapas in Mexico to Democratic Confederalist Rojava in Syria, to your local Food Not Bombs chapter, people are doing it right now

just like we talked about last week with dual-power, this isn't just pre-figuring some distant revolution, it's right now!

much of anarchism is putting faith in experts, organizing around where production is being done, and doing away with the needless authority that largely exists to steal the labor value of those who did the actual work.

and it works! we will someday talk about anarchist spain, but it's all over!
furthermoore.bsky.social
you obviously know all the ins and outs, all the tips and tricks. the company ceo certainly couldn't last a day in your position!

congratulations, you're now an anarcho-syndicalist!

and i hope you can see how thos can apply generally to society at large!
furthermoore.bsky.social
but his point is made none the less. people can think for themselves, and do not need the coercion of government.

think about your workplace. how much does your supervisor actually know about how you do your job? so who really should have a say in how the job is done?
furthermoore.bsky.social
and again, we can see a few things to argue with here. for starters, jonathan has bipolar disorder, so could tell you some times that "reason and reflection" definitely didn't triumph over "instinct and spontaneity." also we've mentioned in past weeks that religious institutions can be good!
furthermoore.bsky.social
"... As man develops his reasoning powers and matures morally, he is therefore able to rebel against religious and political authority and reaches a stage where the artificial restrictions of government and law can be done away with."

wow, I know glass houses and all, but dude was wordy!
furthermoore.bsky.social
"In society as well as in the individual, reason and reflection always triumph over instinct and spontaneity. This is the characteristic feature of our species and it accounts for the fact that we make progress. It follows that Nature in us seems to retreat while reason comes to the fore...

but let's get into the meat of things. i am an obligate carnivore after all.

we're once again using Peter Marshall's "Demanding the Impossible" for this. in its section on proudhon it quotes his "Confessions"...
furthermoore.bsky.social
(as to the whole black-bloc of it all, i promise we'll talk about propaganda of the deed someday. i don't want to ignore the successes and gains of those who quite literally FOUGHT for freedom, and the image of the bomb hurling anarchist is part of our past we shouldn't forget. see alt text.)
An image from the Spanish civil war of men and women marching with rifles. They are members of the anarchist party CNT or Conferación Nacional del Trabajo. These armed workers are almost solely responsible for keeping Francoist Spain from joining the Axis in World War 2, and are an example of why anarchists should not forget their history of armed action.

see, anarchists don't want chaos and pandemonium in the streets like what the government means when they call something "anarchy." no, they believe in the radical capacity of individuals to rule themselves. where the media sees masked faces and molotovs, we see community gardens and shelters.
furthermoore.bsky.social
so we'll acknowledge his shortcomings while using his work. part of anarchism though is certainly recognizing the flaws in those who hold any authority!

but this isn't a rundown on proudhon, it's an exploration of that concept "anarchy is order."
furthermoore.bsky.social
so this phrase comes from a pretentious french guy named pierre-joseph proudhon (pronounced proo-doan). there's a lot of issues to take with proudhon, from his sexism to his weird opinions on so-called "savages." but he is a foundational thinker in anarchism.
furthermoore.bsky.social
because it turns out, anarchists have answers! see, there's this little phrase that you'll often hear: "anarchy is order." all those circle a's you see are actually a reference to that, the a for anarchy, and the circle around it is an o for order!
A classic circle A, the A for anarchy, and the circle around it an O for order.

well, it's that time again, and I hope you will all join me for another #theorythursday!

today i realized i've been making wild assumptions and neglecting a basic question: "why would you even want anarchy? isn't it just disorder and chaos?"

well, get ready to have your world rocked!

If one person starts yelling, it’s easy from there. Don’t be afraid to be the first person to start yelling at a Nazi
jtischauser.bsky.social
A guy ran into a classroom at the University of Washington threw up Nazi salutes, yelled a bunch of slurs, then roughly 30 students chased him down, got him arrested.
UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON STUDENTS DO NOT FUCK AROUND WITH NAZIS. THIS IS AN IMAGE OF A YOUNG WOMAN SPAYING PEPPER SPRAY ON A NAZI BOY. HE LOOKS VERY TERRIFIED.
