Reminder: my book "It's a sign" is available for a mere £7 plus postage!
A festival of found, improved, debased, repurposed and insane signage from across the realm. Made over a long photographic career, these images build a story of chaos and the absurd bursting into daily life.

What are we going to do with Australia's ageing 'big things'?
Australians have been fascinated by "big things" since the 1960s, but the decades-long practice of building novelty attractions has begun to reach a crisis point.

I often think of my work as ruins in the future. Unfortunately it won't look like this- it'll just be a pile of obsolete hard drives which can no longer be accessed. Ah well, let's get some printing done as a talisman against oblivion..

Read Robin McAloines piece. It articulates a lot of things which float around in the mind and are hard to articulate. Concise and very good.
Worth a read, and I think Robin McAlpine has the picture pretty much right in this. How cultural liberalism merged with economic liberalism and pretty much scuppered the Left.

The silence is deafening.
A lot of people are feeling anxious and scared tonight. For their loved ones. For themselves. For their community. For their country.
For our country.
Those who lead us must use their voices, unequivocally, now.

The saddest thing is that there are decent people in Scottish labour who are powerless in the face of UK labour's rightward drift. To think that Scottish labour under Jack McConnel purged everyone who had any tactical nous re independence/devolution. Now they are stuck
I am faaaaaaar from the SNP's biggest fan, but anyone in Scotland looking at the huge, racist march in London today & not planning to vote SNP in 2026 needs to take a good hard look at where the UK is going. Tories, Labour & Reform are all right-wing parties chasing each other to the hard right. 😳😳

@municipaldreams.bsky.social always captures the practical optimism of public housing, an important heritage of the 20th century. This is surely not the future they had in mind, but perhaps we can honour that heritage by pushing for proper public housing once again
🚨Today's blog post is on the new exhibition 'Building "Homes for Tomorrow": Lambeth’s Council Housing of 1965 to 1980' at @lambetharchives.bsky.social. The images below (a nursery school and a housing scheme for elderly people) capture the era's ideals.

Direct action against genocide is not a crime!
I oppose genocide and I support non-violent action to stop it by any means necessary.

At about 4.10pm on this day 54 years ago, something weird started happening on Scottish Television. There was no announcement, and no credit was given to the person who had created them, but strange short films suddenly started popping up in the schedules youtu.be/AA9IdHtHk_0?...

We`re yet to discover if this real terms pay cut will apply to the elite management levels who got us into this disastrous mess in the first place...
The University of Dundee has announced it will defer the 1.4% national pay rise for staff in higher education.
With inflation above 3% this means hard working staff at the University will be getting at least a 3% real terms pay cut this year.
