I have seen several commentators say that the issue of democracy did not resonate more because it is "too abstract." A survey we conducted last December offers a different possible explanation: Young voters, Black voters, and Latino voters want to improve our democracy, not just protect it.

Kudos to 60 Minutes and Scott Pelley for tonight’s powerful report on Putin’s repeated war crimes against Ukrainian civilians. It is an important reminder of why we should be standing with Ukraine rather than pressuring them to accede to Putin’s terms.

This is a must read analysis of the corrupt and dangerous plan Trump wants to impose on Ukraine and Europe - a gift to Putin and a blow to democracy.
This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

The Hochul campaign is out with a statement regarding President Trump's disagreement with Rep. Elise Stefanik calling Zohran Mamdani a "jihadist." Comms Director Sarafina Chitika says Trump "nuked her opening argument" in Stefanik's bid for governor

Republicans have been gearing up to make Mayor-elect Mamdani a scary poster child for the national Democratic Party, and Donald Trump just took the wind out of their sails to suit his own immediate political needs. And Trump totally twisted the knife on Stefanik (frontally, not in the back).

When coverage becomes unaffordable, people delay care, skip meds, and end up sicker. If Republicans take away the ACA tax credits, it doesn’t just hurt individuals—it strains every hospital, clinic, and community across the country. We deserve better.

The Coast Guard got into its mess over swastikas and nooses because of an imperative to align its policies with directives from Hegseth and the Trump Administration.

The real issue here is Hegseth and the running room he has created for hate, racism, sexism, and antisemitism in the military.

17 Republican governors (presumably not "woke") oppose Trump's 10-year moratorium on state AI regulation.
Trump on AI: "You can't go through 50 states. You have to get one approval. 50 is a disaster. Because you'll have one woke state and you'll have to do all woke. You'll be back in the woke business. We don't have woke anymore in this country. It's virtually illegal. You'll have a couple of wokesters"

The Democratic Party faces big challenges and has lots of work to do to win voters' confidence, but the generic House trial heats from two national voter polls today put that in perspective.

In the new Economist/YouGov poll, registered voters say by 49% to 34% that Trump is "trying to cover up Jeffrey Epstein's crimes."

36% of Trump voters either say Trump is trying to cover up Epstein's crimes are are not sure - a sign of significant weakness with his base.

The important missing detail here is that the tariffs do not generate enough revenue to cover $2,000 rebate checks.

It is another Trump scam.
