CASE has also published today a useful explainer on the background to the case, in which O'Malley's action has resulted in suppression for the last 9 months of the entire LGBTQI+ special edition of the Journal of Irish Counsellors & Psychotherapists.

Of the things Ireland needs, imperialism by British colonialist billionaires is not one of them.

Though in turn if it’s genuinely not therapy it shouldn’t be “passed off” as a treatment. Of course they’re trying to have their cake and eat it; claiming they’re not clinical to avoid regulation and then claiming to be clinical when trying to promote their services.

I think what they’re actually arguing is that their “service” isn’t professional therapy and therefore shouldn’t be subject to clinical standards of practice. Existing “Christian counselling” uses similar framing to argue it’s not therapy (while using therapeutic presentation )

I rather suspect Jenrick would like that idea given his take on Birmingham!

That’s pretty jaw-dropping and not in a good way?!

Over the weekend, Deloitte's contentious report for the Australian Government was 'updated' minus the AI hallucinations it originally had in July. Government policy work, like law, is too important to permit AI use without the very strictest conditions. www.theage.com.au/business/wor...
A botched government report should be wake-up call on AI hype
Beating up management consultants may have become something of an Australian sport these days, but Deloitte Australia’s headache with AI is the latest example of why technology must be carefully manag...

An 🇦🇺 report evaluating the Cass Review has recommended that it should not be used as a guide of any kind in regards to the care of young trans people.

The new report was one of a series published in a special edition of The Medical Journal of 🇦🇺

Cass Review does not guide care for trans young people
Good medicine is guided by the values of the patient, not those of a clinician, politician or commentator. The Cass Review, lacking expertise and compromised by implicit stigma and misinformation, doe...

It seems the social media industry, which profits significantly from misinformation, is deliberately misrepresenting the problem. Despite Digi's claims, many (often most) responses to misinformation disagree with it. All engagement increases the chances of hate material being seen by others.

Disturbingly we now have a further report of Optus triple zero calls not getting through in NSW; when will this shambles end?

You either
a) believe political violence is bad because it makes civil society impossible for all
b) believe violence is bad only if it affects your tribe, but when it does it offers an opportunity to go after the other tribe

Givan supports hate and ostracisation against the LGBTQIA+ community; I don’t see any reason to believe anything he says about condemning bullying. Removing the report says it all.

The economic dependence of social media on hate speech and pejorative posts has to be broken or democracy is in serious trouble.

Extreme views are heavily over-represented on social media

Social platforms’ tendency to reward hostile content creates incentives that systematically reward simplistic messages and extreme positions and this fuels populism www.ft.com/content/9251... via @jburnmurdoch.ft.com

Hardly surprising; Streeting is an energetic supporter of trans hate; always finding time for transphobic people and views and advocating for trans exclusion.
