We've just completed a revision of this comment and posted it to SSRN. We very much appreciate all the useful and thoughtful comments that we've gotten from colleagues, Bluesky commentators, and, of course, Ryan Oprea.

This is illegal, and yes this is the same guy who claimed he'd never heard of Project 2025. But there's a larger point to make here about public service. No one who wins elected office wins 100% of the vote. But everyone who holds public office represents 100% of their electorate.

"When we handed one agent the official papers of a legal resident, the masked agent took the documents, shoved our handcuffed resident into an unmarked vehicle, and sped off."

Past Chris Harris from Bright Star, whose shelter was attacked today by immigration agents, shows and tells what happened.

A pop up box on Tylenol dot com

TYLENOL
We stand with science, and we stand with you.
For generations, families have trusted TYLENOL® when it matters most.
Why? Because Tylenol is one of the most studied medications in history.
The facts remain unchanged: over a decade of rigorous research, endorsed by leading medical professionals, confirm there is no credible evidence linking acetaminophen to autism.
Acetaminophen is used worldwide as a first line of defense for pain relief and fever reduction, at the recommendation of independent public health and leading medical professionals and in accordance with the product label.
High fevers and pain are widely recognized as potential risks to a pregnancy if left untreated, especially in the first trimester.
Remember to talk to your doctor.
We prioritize science as the core of how we provide care, and that will never change.

Let's focus on qualifications: Antoni finished grad school 5 years ago at Northern Illinois with no distinction. Dissertation: No focus on labor or data collection. Zero publications. One lifetime citation (by a former colleague).

This record would not earn you a job as junior economist at BLS.

Trump's nominee for BLS commissioner, EJ Antoni, is disastrously terrible. He's a 1200%, 1300% maybe 1400% in-the-tank Trumper, with few credentials beyond a history of misrepresenting or misunderstanding economic statistics. He has shown no commitment to truth

More polling just dropped -- by a pretty huge margin Americans think that having international students at US universities is good for the country, not bad -- 56% to 14% (+42)

and for 18-29 YOs, nearly 1/2 say international students are "very good"

one last post on international students -- public opinion is not in the administration's favor on this, and universities should not let them forget it

New in PN: Trump's attack on Harvard hampered by his inability to STFU

"The Trump administration would be getting slapped down in court even if the president & his minions *didn’t* constantly announce their intent to violate laws. But their incessant chest thumping does make things go a lot faster"
Trump's attack on Harvard hampered by his inability to STFU
The administration is violating the First Amendment, and he's tweeting through it.

Wow. Revoking tenure is something that Harvard has not done before it seems (though some have resigned so Harvard did not have to act).

Swing district Republicans are right to be worried about the fallout from Medicaid cuts.

Our Briefing Book piece shows that Medicaid has grown fastest in frontline Republican districts.
