This seems like a small thing but it'll be a huge improvement for people walking

If you're on foot, you already have priority to cross at side roads, but most people driving either don't know this or just ignore it

A visible, cheap to install reminder on every side road will make it much clearer

I think AI might have been a bit... overhyped.
It's just Clippy on steroids and even more annoying.

This whole thread is spot on but especially this bit from the article.

Needs saying repeatedly and loudly

Since 2011 the fuel duty freeze has cost the Treasury £133 billion.

This huge amount could have paid for lower train and bus fares, better stations, safer walking, wheeling and cycling and much more!

Rachel Reeves will freeze fuel duty to dodge ‘political suicide’
The chancellor will also highlight a rise in the minimum wage and plans to cut energy bills as she tries to win over voters by focusing on cost of living

In an environment where pretty much every tax rise has been touted, to let this one go begging.... again.... is an absolute mind boggler.

Such a bad decision on so many policy fronts.
When can you declare an emergency over?

The 5p “emergency” petrol tax cut was introduced in March 2022, to offset a spike in prices

They are now about 30p down on that month, & about 50p down on the absolute peak

Build people safe ways to get around by bike and they will use them in large numbers
Cycling in London has soared to 1.5m journeys every day. 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲

We've grown London's Cycleway network from 90 to 430km

There’s no doubt that London is fast becoming a cycling city.

Very selfish off this bridge to keep draining the public purse by enticing poor defenceless lorries to crash into it 🤷🏻‍♂️

And now I'm over my John Peel moment, I'm enjoying their debut eponymous album in all its glory.

It's still a stunning sounding record, even before you consider that most of the band were late teens / early 20s when they wrote it.

Dreaming Of You is still one of my favourite ever songs.
TFW you forget you've left the turntable on 45rpm and you make The Coral sound like The Chipmunks 🤦🏻‍♂️

People will say it's the lack of enforcement, and that's a factor, but we also have technology to limit phone use while driving and our automakers and leaders refuse to implement it. It's a choice to allow distracted driving. And all the deaths and injuries that result are because of that choice.
We’ve 100% lost the war on using phones while driving and it’s the worst.

"Trans people could be asked about whether they should be accessing single-sex services based on their physical appearance."

No. not "trans people". ANYONE. This moral panic leads inexorably to the policing of women based on their appearance deemed to be "unfeminine".

Trans people could be barred from services based on appearance
The new code of practice on access to single-sex services cannot gain legal force until it gets sign-off from ministers.

I’d forgotten just how good the last Mary Wallopers album is. If you don’t have a massive grin on your face listening to it you’re dead in side 😂

They’re playing a 5 night residency at the Barrowlands before Xmas which I’d love to go to. Reckon it would be the best kind of carnage

Glorious.
The BBC Scotland commentary for Kenny McLean’s halfway line goal is glorious. Stuff of dreams. 🔥

Cancel the entire UK road building budget for at least 5 years and spend it all on implementing decent public transport, implementing people friendly neighbourhoods & high quality walking and cycling routes. The difference would be transformative in people's lives
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.
