It is precisely the civilian and energy infrastructure that is the main target of Russian strikes before the heating season. Together we can protect people from this terror. We need not empty words, but decisive action - from the US, Europe, G7 - in implementing air defense supplies, in sanctions.

Situation in parts of #Kyiv after heavy air strike: no electricity and no water. Those massive air strikes are only possible because Western sanctions are (in practice, not on paper) a joke. And because a large part of our industries/societies have lost any hint of a moral compass.

Our authoritarianism is run on clichés borrowed from the Eastern Europe of twenty years ago. Paid protestors, disloyal cities, evil Soros, vast conspiracies — it was all tiresome then and there, and now it’s pathetic.

Trump: "They're, like, insurrectionists, they're terrible people. But you really wonder why. Why are they doing it? What are they gaining? Other than they're obviously paid. They're paid a lot of money."

Badenoch: “When it comes to the North Sea, we have a very simple policy. Drill our oil and gas now.”

Apart from the concern about the climate, an interesting aspect is the use of "our" for referring to Scotland's natural resources that, according to the #BetterTogether campaign, don't exist.

Any ideas what may have happened in the interim?

The core problem with Merkel's argument remains the same it's always been: If you believe that (a) Russia was a significant threat and (b) that good relations with Moscow were necessary to buy time for Ukraine, why would you prepare neither yourself nor Ukraine for conflict?

Merkel never said that Poland and the Baltics are to blame for the invasion. I don't know why she does these interviews or why she seems to be incapable of recognising that her Russia policy failed, but there's no point in being angry at her for something she didn't do
ichbinilya.bsky.social
You've probably seen a lot of angry posts today about how "Angela Merkel blamed Poland and the Baltics for the Ukraine war" in a recent interview.

They're far off the mark — she did no such thing! 👇
