Where are the trees?
We have A LOT of this landscape and less than 4% native woodland. This should be a rich mosaic of habitats, moor, bog, woodland, montane scrub…We force it to remain in this artificial state. We don’t need to give every inch of our uplands over to sheep, grouse and deer stalking.

Vile.
Land "owners" do nothing but destroy and claim to be the "custodians" of our land.

Ah, this will do the trick; everyone can stop baying for unnecessary re-nationalisation, corporate corruption will be stamped out brutally with these 'MOT-style checks'... Thank goodness for Starmer! 😉

Water companies to face regular MOT-style checks in industry shake-up
The government says the industry will have nowhere to hide, but campaigners say the reforms do not go far enough.

Now 30,001 and counting.

My 86yo mother, with Alzheimers and severe arthritis, is without water.

Their response is to dump a pack of bottled water on her step.

She can't pick them up.

She can't open a bottle top.

Fuckers.
30,000 homes left without water in Kent and Sussex.

South East Water company blamed bad weather and storms as though we never had that.

Real reason is lack of investment, unjustified dividends and exec pay.

Nothing will change until privatisation is ended, people empowered to vote on exec pay.

“The biodiversity target, which means stopping the decline of British species such as the hedgehog and red squirrel, will almost certainly not be met.”

Huge fail by Labour. Where’s the Land Use Framework? Where’s the promised nature purpose for national parks?

You can't 'defect' if you're not actually an MP. He's merely stating his support for Reform like so many other radicalised right-wing grifters.

And shows that the US oil grab is sooo.. 20th century and the death throes of a fading empire. The world is moving on.
This is a pretty cool graphic from Ember, showing the percentage of new car sales that are electric in different countries.
Reducing the overall number of cars (& their size) is essential, but if they do exist they should be electric. We're well on the way! 🎉

You don't necessarily need to say "image of" in your alt text for users to know it's an image. Screen readers will announce that it's an image. But it can help readers to specify if it's a hand-drawn image, Polaroid, infographic, screenshot, chart, map, diagram, or so on.

Nothing will happen to these land"owners" and their gamekeeper lackeys. We know it's them. This should be a national scandal. Cunts.

Scotland has enjoyed a Right to Roam for decades, supported by a detailed code of access that helps people enjoy nature responsibly. We hope to learn from this and create a new system of fair and responsible access in England.

Why does a right to roam mean to you?

Magnificent thread using actual evidence and not hysterical hyperbole.
🧵 Is it a super flu year? Who knows, but I think the current reporting is stupid.

A pissed off thread using data.

Firstly - here are today's headlines and some from the last 3 years... spot the difference. 1/10

Today the Government announced they will publish a new Trees Action Plan in 2026.

Here's what I think a Trees Action Plan needs to do to meet nature targets, restore rainforests and 'ghost woods', & support the natural regeneration of trees & scrub:
