Reading this I immediately thought of my childhood toy

The 25th of November is the international day for the elimination of violence against women

But are women safe online?

Unfortunately, not always. That's why:

➡ Verbal violence online is correlated with physical violence

Toddler: “you know what we can do? Dad cooks, mom works, I play at the park with grandma”

Not sure all our roles are perfect but at least we went beyond traditional gender stereotypes

My toddler kid asked a question.

I said I didn’t know the answer.

They said, “can’t you make an hypothesis?”

And it was hard for me as I had to explain I’m mostly qualitative so it’s more of a research question

I complain a lot about academic precarious jobs and the international moves I was forced to do, but…

Some time ago I met a musician who toured the world with a famous band and they felt *I* had the most interesting life because, well, I literally lived everywhere.

Listening suggestion:

ROSALIA- LUX

I feel like everyone (at least in my feed) is listening to Rosalia's new album LUX, and obviously I'm into it for professional reasons...

I told toddler, in simple words, what happened to Jesus.

She commented: so when he came back from the death, what did he say? I bet he looked at people and said, “you’re all naughty and mean!”

I’m not telling this to my funding agency

I am no longer a big fan of academia.edu, but where do I go if I want to look at someone's publications? University websites often only have incomplete information and not everyone is on Researchgate...

Who are the Sentinelle in Piedi?

Imagine a square where people stand in silence, distanced from each other, reading books (sometime the Bible, sometime Gramsci).

I hate that AI wants to write for me.

Writing is literally the one thing that I do well and I like doing

The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch and do nothing

Reading suggestion of the day

I’ve just seen an ad of someone renting a place in Italy specifying that they don’t want fascist and I think that’s the right vibe

Humans never learn from difficult situations.

The pandemic was the perfect occasion to pick just ONE platform for online communication, and yet we're here stuck with zoom, meets, teams and whatever else is out there...

Did an online presentation of a book in Italian and my mom connected too 💜

How do you get arrested in the Vatican?

In my work, I recently spoke with people who had the experience of being arrested of stopped by the police because they were doing something "wrong" in the Vatican.

I’ve received reviews for 4 papers in 10 days can the god of academia stop it? Thanks

Toddler : “do Witches exist?”

Husband, a law professor: “of course not”

Me, someone in religious studies: “well, actually…” *proceeds to listing all the Pagan and Wiccan practitioners I’ve met in my life

I’ve been to an art event to speak about religion and it was such an experience!

MERGE QUOTE:

“The idea of religion itself is largely unintelligible outside its incarnation in material expressions”

Just got an email saying that mothers with 2 kids or more will get a monthly bonus of FORTY EUROS and I'm like wow! That's really what I needed to take the decision of having a second child!

(that's what you get when you elect a fascist btw)

I love how people in Colorado spoke to me in Spanish because they saw I was a foreigner, and in Barcelona they speak to me in Catalan because they think I'm from here.

A fantastic panel of people discussing transcendence

It ends with the question: what kind of transcendence can AI bring?

Are Christians a minority?

In my work, I find online narratives of Christians describing themselves as "minorities"

However, in Europe and North America, Christians remain the majority of the population, even if the number of religious people is declining.
