Last Sunday, white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups held so-called “March for Australia” rallies. Unlike other pro-Israel Jewish groups and the antisemitism envoy, the Jewish Council has always opposed the far-right as a key driver of antisemitism. We stand in solidarity with First Nations peoples, Palestinians, and all communities targeted by the far right. We reject the hypocrisy of the conservative media that promoted these racist rallies while claiming to care about antisemitism. We continue to stand with those marching for Palestine and against all forms of racism, knowing that none of us are free until all of us are free.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our campaign against the sham Mayor’s Summit Against Antisemitism on the Gold Coast this week. Your emails have put councillors across the country on notice that they will face a backlash for participating in far-right pro-Israel events masquerading as attempts to tackle antisemitism. In the former official’s opinion, it was more likely that the vessel was carrying migrants on a human smuggling run. It would be impossible to know for sure, however, given that any evidence of drug smuggling was destroyed in the attack.
