Best understood, Labour's attack on juries, as a further lurch towards authoritarianism. Who, now, will stand in the way of a State that wants to imprison its opponents?

Given that the BBC endlessly gives platforms to lobbyists from the dark money junktanks without revealing their interests, shouldn't we be seeing such apologies every day?

Better still, how about not doing it? If they want to appear, we should know on whose behalf they are speaking.

Why would a government want to scrap juries?

Is it so they can pass sentences that the gov wants, but the people object to?

Feels very 1984 to me…

Jury trials could be scrapped except in most serious cases
Only cases of alleged murder, rape or manslaughter will be decided by a jury under new proposals to cut court backlogs.

Or it can attempt to protect a small, wealthy minority through walls, mass deportations and border violence on an unprecedented scale."

Which will our governments choose to do? 🤔

I think one of the Naomi Klien books points out that, starting in the mid 90s, it was projected to cost about 1% of global gdp per year for only 30 years address climate change. If the world had committed to that back then we'd be finished already. Imagine.

The catastrophic illegal waste dumping in Oxfordshire (see next post) is a direct result of the deregulation-by-stealth I wrote about in 2021, when my dead goldfish became a registered waste disposer. I warned it would let the mafia in. And here we are.🧵

This video shows how utterly ludicrous the ban on Palestine Action is. If these people holding cardboard signs are really dangerous terrorists, surely the police would make sure they arrest all of them, not just a handful??
BREAKING - Police FAIL to arrest dozens of “terrorists” today.

Police left most sign-holders in Truro with “I oppose genocide - I support Palestine Action” signs.

No arrests in Edinburgh, and many were not arrested in Oxford.

For Shabana Mahmood to attack some of the most cruelly treated people in the world as having won a "golden ticket" because they manage to get to and claim asylum in Britain is unforgiveable.

A new, far right, low for which I can think of no precedent, by any UK Government.
