Classic CBC. "Bill could lead to law enforcement acting more freely in Canada"

How does a US bill lead to this, without Canada actively allowing this? Can we use the active voice? Can we actually use words the way that journalists are supposedly able to?

No harm in a report, I guess. But I live in a dump by the rail tracks. My bed wobbles and the pictures on my wall rattle every time a train goes by. People without a care in the world sure cast a wide net to fill that void.

Despite all your submissions, disappointed Council adopted the item without debate. With new cycling projects not moving forward and previous approvals put on hold, the (already modest) planned progress of Toronto's cycling network is at risk of being set back a decade.

this is just a pilot project, but it's also an acknowledgement from Toronto city council that we need alternatives to policing

Council votes 23-1 to APPROVE deploying crisis service workers on the TTC subway system. They'll be stationed at Spadina Station, Union Station, and Bloor-Yonge, and respond to calls anywhere in the downtown U-shaped track area.

Here's a good example of how the consensus around urban density in KW differs from many other medium-sized cities. At a development proposal meeting, a Waterloo councillor responded to the "high-rises aren't for families" trope with a comment that they are in no way a lesser-than form of living.
This drew a rebuke from Coun. Royce Bodaly. “There are many, many residents who live in the city of Waterloo who are raising families in high-density apartment buildings, and I don’t think that we should be suggesting that is some sort of lesser-than way of living,” he said.

NEW: Federal judge dismisses Drake's defamation case against Kendrick Lamar storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
The issue in this case is whether "Not Like Us" can reasonably be understood to convey as a factual matter that Drake is a pedophile or that he has engaged in sexual relations with minors. In light of the overall context in which the statements in the Recording were made, the Court holds that it cannot.

Netanyahu's mouthpiece, Amit Segal, casually admits on Twitter that his country has been holding 1,700 people from Gaza hostage, including children.
Among other things, according to the decision:

- 250 security prisoners will be released.
- 1,700 residents of the Gaza Strip who were not involved in the events of October 7 and were arrested after the massacre will be released.
- 22 minors under the age of 18, residents of the Gaza Strip who were not involved in the events of October 7 and were arrested after the massacre, will be released.
- 360 bodies of terrorists will be returned.

I guess he grates on me in particular because of his perpetual mayoral campaign. Talking about “I am speaking to people across this city…” When I hear from his own constituents they can’t even find him. So where does he get this “you ask any Torontonian, they’ll tell you” nonsense.
