“What do such machines really do? They increase the number of things we can do without thinking. Things we do without thinking-there’s the real danger.”

Read it twice, then twice more.
Having $800M in your investment account vs $400M doesn't change your life at all, but having a labor market where your underlings are desperate to cling to jobs vs one where they can walk across the street and get a better offer makes a huge difference in the day to day reality of the very wealthy

A book into the ribs from across the room is equally painful, I couldn’t imagine being struck with a (bound?) encyclopedia at velocity.
People who dunk on enemies in video games who use books in their attack strings as being silly never took a hardcover encyclopedia to the head and it shows.

This is a direct attack on me personally, and I dunno what I did to The Onion to deserve this slander.

It’s not that we set out to scope creep, but sometimes these ideas seem too cool to not run down.

These console companies don’t even host online gameplay, it’s either P2P or the game devs are responsible for it. What exactly are we paying for beyond CEO salaries?
sorry that I bit you man. I got reminded of the existence of Nintendo Switch Online as a service you have to pay money for and got really mad. yeah they make you pay extra to use online features for a game you already own on a wifi network you already pay for. it sucks. can I bite you again

“What do such machines really do? They increase the number of things we can do without thinking. Things we do without thinking-there’s the real danger.”

These people aren’t smart, they’re just rich.
gotta say. "i don't think i could fulfill my central role as an earthling without the computer program i built" should be immediately disqualifying. for like, everything.

if a person told me they couldnt imagine raising a child without a chatbot I wouldn't let them work close at a convenience store
Jimmy Fallon: "And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

Sam Altman: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

Aristocats is a potentially solid choice for a “live action” Disney remake, being only an hour in length, with just shallow enough characterization, and having been made long enough ago many children and even some millennials don’t have particularly “sacred” memories. In this essay, I will…

Last month I paid $5 for a 30 day supply of 10mg Adderall (generic, I’m not made of money). This month my prescription was increased to 20mg, the cost? $50. A 100% increase in pills is a 1000% increase in cost. Burn the whole fucking insurance industry to the ground. Single payer. Now.

Fuck me this is terrifying.
Nightmarish idea for a startup tbh

“If Democrats are so fucking smart how come they lose so goddamn always?”

That’s their game. Don’t win enough to actually enact liberal policies, that’s bad for their billionaire owners. No, they need to lose just enough the country slides to the right and they get to whinge and beg for more money.

It’s never just another 15 minutes to finish up writing this feature/fixing this bug/refactoring this function. It’s gonna be 3 more hours and when you finally pull yourself from your train of thought everyone else in the house has given up on you and gone to bed.

Learned a lot this game jam, including: Don’t pick a potentially frustrating game as a game jam target if you wanna place well. The people crave dopamine, not cortisol. Or I could say “fuck the ratings” and keep making the game I wanna make. I’m proud of what we put out there regardless.
