good morning from this food not bombs south philly ig caption i like

“the things you do together will change you both”
foodnotbombs.southphilly IG post caption that reads:

“you do not have to perfect your theory before you act. you do not need perfect orthodoxy with everyone you meet. the things you do together will change you both.

you do not need to have read a particular book to understand that hungry people need food, that unsheltered people need homes, or that care and access to basic needs are the right of every living person.

you do not need lived experience to make community with people who live in addiction or with disability or mental illness or any other state of being. but you should listen to what people with these experiences say they need.

it doesn't cost money to empathize. and it's free to act on that empathy at any time.
the only barrier to change is the inaction of people who know better. mutual aid isn't a luxury to give or receive. it's easy and it sustains. dm us to find out more.”

I remember when he died on the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinians, and that felt great.

Everyone deserves to be safe and free from the harm and violence of policing - whether local, state, or federal - with clear material protections enforceable in ways that don’t increase community harm.
gochujung.bsky.social
It’s not good enough that CPD eventually cleared space for ICE to leave their pkg lot, blocking streets with their own SUV’s and holding neighbors back while the ICE vehicle drove away. This is not a NIMBY situation where I want ICE to just post up in different pkg lot in a different neighborhood.
gochujung.bsky.social
I’m not new to organizing against the violent behemoth that is CPD but still remain frustrated at their (& ISP’s) willingness to make ICE operations & protection possible, and the lack of enforcement to keep ICE, CBP, or any police force out of our parking lots, streets, alleys, & neighborhoods.
gochujung.bsky.social
Even the TRO passed in IL Northern District Court today, which makes necessary chemical weapons prohibitions, wouldn’t have happened if multiple people doing essential work on the ground hadn’t first experienced serious physical, mental, & emotional harm. I wish they hadn’t had to go through that.
gochujung.bsky.social
While an essential start on paper, orders like the ICE-free zones are only as useful as their enforceability. It’s not enough to rely on the courts, which take time and often require the occurrence of injury or harm as standing to sue.
gochujung.bsky.social
At one point, a vehicle of ICE agents tried to hide from residents in the parking lot behind the 24th District Station. When uniformed CPD officers communication with the vehicle were reminded m that ICE can’t use city lots to prepare for operations, they denied knowledge of the order.

ICE & CBP were all over the Far North side of Chicago today, spotted across Edgewater, Uptown, Rogers Park, and West Ridge. At least four ppl were abducted from the Rogers Park neighborhood alone, with three sightings in a half-mile radius before 10a.

Granted it’s just my goy opinion but it’s frustratingly horrifying to live in a country where critique of the Israel state is seen as antisemitism and fear mongering about communists and circumcision is not.
justinbaragona.bsky.social
Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."
gochujung.bsky.social
It’s so unfortunate how misunderstood autism is as a neurotype, which all of us have regardless of whether they’re considered neurotypical or neurodivergent by others. Fear of difference, and the relationship of differences to labor, reproduction, and nationalism are such a driving cultural force.
gochujung.bsky.social
This is another way in which the desires to eliminate autism and gender expansiveness are incredibly linked as well, and to the persistent drive for autonomy in one’s internal and external sense of self at the most core levels.
gochujung.bsky.social
And of course in an authoritarian society where identity as a worker, consumer, & reproducer are core (as in white nationalism, etc) then having large groups of ppl who cannot be controlled would be undesirable.
gochujung.bsky.social
I agree with what ppl already shared abt allistic parents of autistic kids hating that experience, and also want to add that one key aspect of autism is a persistent drive for autonomy that doesn’t mix well with acquiescing to authority or power, which makes ppl harder to control as ppl & workers.

If a ceasefire holds, you boycott Israel HARDER, you divest, you push for sanctions. You don't perform for apartheid. You don't whitewash genocide. You don't pretend like Israel isn't still a violent occupier stealing land and collectively punishing Palestinians daily

Simply marching in the streets once every few months will not stop fascism. We have to draw people into concrete organizing and activity. No one else is going to do this for us.

Whether there are two of you or two hundred of you, this guide goes over what you can do.

This is a call for you—yes, you specifically—to organize an anti-authoritarian bloc in your community for the “No Kings” demonstrations on October 18.

Another ambulance arrives at the detention center. Presuming it could be the one from earlier returning, but either way, a grim reminder of what's happening behind the gates and boarded up windows.

Durbin on whether Democrats can use reining in ICE in Chicago as a precondition to rein in the government says “can’t do that. It’s gotta be health care all the way.”

I can only interpret this as 'extrajudicial killings for anti-ICE protestors'. I hope to God that I am wrong.
nkalamb.bsky.social
This is truly horrifying.
My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach…with Antifa."

> Curfew is in 15 minutes

10 months in and the feds have municipalities calling curfew at 6pm because of protests against the ethnic terror pogroms
unraveledpress.com
Around 30 protesters and hecklers here in the free speech area tonight. Curfew is in 15 minutes (reportedly, state police were fairly chill about curfew yesterday, but did make the few people still here move across Lexington).

Someone is tempting ISP troopers with a donut on a fishing pole.

Listen, I know I dropped out of mortician school before they made us dissect cadavers but I’m pretty sure there’s lots of important things between the neck and the pelvis. 😑

In which Governor “You’ll Have To Go Through Me First” told us to rely on the courts and now both sides are agreeing the home of many bones and vital organs is not a sensitive area w/r/t shooting something like pepper balls. 🤦🏻
djbyrnes1.bsky.social
Plaintiff attorneys also seem to concede that, except for the "female breast area," as the govt. atty put it, the torso is not a sensitive area compared to the head, neck and groin for the purposes of the order.
gochujung.bsky.social
Oh geez. In my experience, crowds of protesters, neighbors, & regular people are great moving out of the way and making room for someone needing medical attention; rarely do they need to be forced esp by police. It’s often officers and agents who refuse to budge and make things more difficult.
djbyrnes1.bsky.social
To illustrate the complexity, Ellis raises the hypothetical of someone needing medical attention in a protest crowd, when the crowd itself refuses to budge to allow aid.

"There may be a use of force consistent with the Fourth Amendment to get the crowd to comply," Ellis says.

"We took freedom of speech away" should be in every campaign ad moving forward.

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."
