I think we could be trusted to do another festival of the supreme being, what with our modern ideas and products

I'm there in spirit!

Cars to not need to go that fast

Yeah I'm baffled by the travel advisories to most of mainland Europe, while the US gets a free pass for kidnapping and disappearing people.

That's way more generous than the reciprocal agreements we have in British Columbia! We had a very stingy NO RENEWALS policy at VIRL. At University, we could send a request to the lending library but it was very much at their discretion.

Mostly, it just manifests in us complaining to each other. Academic librarians tend to be more stingy about lending than public libraries, at least from what I've observed.

I used to do ILLs at the last public library I worked at, and it was a real point of shame when we sent something back late. Like some kind of black mark.

So this is also a general rule. ILLs have fees but the regular collection won't, because if a library gets a reputation for returning ILLs late, the other lending libraries get annoyed.

Hear me out, Mark: maybe you're not viable as prime minister

If they're like other public libraries, they will also charge a replacement fee once it gets marked as lost. Usually within three months, and it's waived once you bring the book in, but that seems to work pretty well.

Wait, who are these landlord delegates? And how many delegates are there for tenants in relation to them?

Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!

It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.

It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!
"How Do You Avoid Hitting People With Your Car" pocket guide. Instructs readers to Watch the Road and Slow Down. Further text humorously insists that watching the road and slowing down are indeed important.

And if we can go down that route, I think now would be a great time to bring up the money sink that is the cops

In our current political climate, I think Doug Ford could run as a federal Liberal

God, please.

Is there a way we could explain it to Mark so that he might listen?

I've just added the words 'Trump', 'USA' and 'United States' to try and dampen the overwhelming volume of news coming from across the border. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing

Crazy amount of stories considering I had literally never heard of this man before Wednesday

I was kind of appalled at the lack of programming and hours GVPL has when I moved here. I've talked to a few people I know who work there and it sounds like there's no funding for anything. They even had to pause their interlibrary loan program for a few months, which is wild.

BC NDP allowing rent to raise 2.3% next year but only offering BCGEU a 1.5% wage increase is a slap in the face. That's a pay cut.

And our governing party continues to break strikes and block any progress for workers. I'm glad the Air Canada strike went the way it did, but we're going to have to do that a lot more.

I had the same reaction to the one I saw by my work.
