"At Tuesday’s committee meeting, several councillors argued the dollars [$260,000] would be best spent in more concrete methods of slowing drivers down — especially in school zones."

I see a lot (all?) of the Kamloops city councillors there, did the mayor even bother to show up
Over the weekend, Riverside Park was filled with excitement, community spirit, and the sound of skates gliding across fresh ice, as Kamloops officially celebrated the grand opening of its new outdoor skating loop.

Watching the Regular Council meeting for Jan 13 2026, MLA Milobar in attendance, sounds like we're not going to know if Kamloops is getting the promised transit service expansion until well after the provincial budget is released

"Multiple councillors have said over the past several weeks they didn’t know where the mayor was or when he was expected to return"

Maybe he should stay in Mexico

I feel like endless movie depictions of evil have conditioned us to think evil is really smart and cunning. The cruel, bumbling banality of evil isn't entertaining but is more accurate

NBC: Trump has privately intensified criticism of Canada, arguing it is too weak to defend its Arctic territory from Russia and China. He’s urging higher defense spending and deeper U.S.–Canada Arctic cooperation. Unlike Greenland, Trump is not seeking to acquire Canada or deploy U.S. troops there.

I fully agree that we need to unite and meet in the political middle as long as you let me define what the middle is.

The question now, same as it ever was:

If not now, then when?
Good summary of “don’t give him what he wants” from relatively comfortable white liberals.

The deal covers 49,000 EVs per year priced at $33,000 or less, and other cars sold at that price are already manufactured offshore.

"This doesn't compete head to head with any Canadian production, especially in the EV end of the market," Frise told CBC Windsor.

Finally some affordable EVs??

Between the Riverside Park Outdoor Skating Loop, Performing Arts Centre, and City Gardens, downtown is going to be buzzing soon
Since the opening of the new Riverside Park Outdoor Skating Loop, Kamloops sporting goods stores have seen a major surge in skate sales, sharpening, and first-time skaters of all ages.

I’m deeply grateful to have the support of David Suzuki. For decades, he’s been a clarion voice on climate, calling on Canada to listen to science, nature, and Indigenous teachings. His fire only burns brighter with time. The hour is late: we need to get to work.

Kind of feel like a lot of politicians, even in Minnesota, are misreading the implications of this moment. I feel like the past three days have been tremendously radicalizing for so many people. I have witnessed it even in my own small communities, it goes beyond just incandescent rage.

Seniors’ advocate slams B.C. government over lack of shingles vaccine funding
With the vaccine proven to prevent severe pain and even lower dementia risk, seniors' group asks why B.C. is one of the provinces refusing universal coverage for those 50 and older.

In 2024, I rose in Senate QP to ask why the Govt of Canada was still using X for official communications. Today, they are still there. What exactly will it take to break the spell?
January 8, 2026 at 2:58 PM
There is no question that there would be economic retaliation if Canada banned X. But we don't even have any political leaders making the case that it is the right thing to do, and that's really disturbing.

In Canada, call or email Evan Solomon and demand he do his job as “Minister of AI and Digital innovation” to stop the CSAM and non-consensual porn. X should be banned in this country.

At this point, I can’t understand why any international traveller would visit the US

Even if you think you’re not at risk, you could get caught in the crossfire of ICE gunning people down in residential streets or have masked gunmen storm your restaurant and haul kitchen staff away as you eat lunch

At this time, it is recommended that users bring their own skates and helmets.
Note: during the grand opening event on Saturday, January 17, complimentary skate rentals will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Thank you for your question. The project team is currently working on the coordination of skate rentals during regular day-to-day operations. If and when that service becomes available, that information will be shared with the public!
