Russ Vought is now officially using the government shutdown as a pretext for his continued attempts to permanently gut the civil service.

The executive branch cannot unilaterally reduce agency funding that Congress has allocated: This is a serious separation of powers issue.

Any police officer who vows to quit depending on the results of an election is openly admitting that they are partisan, that they swore an oath but it was conditional, and that they believe the work they do as law enforcement is tied to a particular political party.

Police officers who publicly declare that they’ll quit if a mayoral candidate they dislike wins the election are (1) usually bluffing—sure buddy, toss away that paycheck and pension—and (2) exactly the sort of cops cities would be better off without, ones who don’t see themselves as public servants.

If GOP members of Congress were really “working in district” you would see coverage of them meeting with constituents.

I haven’t see one do this. They are sitting at home on their extended vacation, counting their salary and money from lobbyists and enjoying their tax payer funded health benefits.
