I am heartbroken for Hong Kong. 💔 I lived there for 10 years growing up, and one of my most enduring memories is of nonstop construction of high rises and the bamboo scaffolding. As others have pointed out, the bamboo isn’t the issue. Praying for all who are affected and those unaccounted for 😢

Currently at a DIY writing retreat and I have just written the first 1,000 words of a brand new book. Only 69,000 more words to go but gotta start somewhere!! 😅

I’ve just had the very humbling experience of losing my contact lens IN MY EYE 😂😭 It was pushed to the side and took me forever to get it out. Zero stars, do not recommend!!!

You were incredible, Alice Wong, and it was a blessing to have collaborated with you on projects, to have read your words and to have heard your voice, as full of life and passion and joy and rage as it was.

You made a difference—so much of a difference.

Rest always in peace, and always in power.

Late to this, but it is SO clarifying and necessary. This essay lays out with a surgeon’s precision exactly why the NYT is no longer a beacon of good journalism and how we are all being led astray
“A writer at the Times contacted me to talk. He said he was less interested in Mamdani himself than he was in the Africana Studies part…” On why maybe you shouldn’t talk to the New York Times about Zohran Mamdani.
Maybe Don’t Talk to the New York Times About Zohran Mamdani
It’s remarkable, the people you’ll hear from. Teach for even a little while at an expensive institution—the term they tend to prefer is “elite”—and odds are that eventually someone who was a studen…

I love tote bags and have an *obscene* number of them, but the downside is every time I go out with my husband or son it’s “do you mind carrying this” and “hey will this fit in your bag” and then before you know it I’m carrying 16 pounds of other people’s shit

If you came to any of my book events you might recognize this design on my bookmarks (L). It recreates a meme I saw on Twitter (R). My niece Michele painted my cat Amber in the shape of Taiwan, and her sister Jenny designed the bookmark to my specifications. I love it so much 😻 #6, #30daysofwhimsy

It shouldn’t be forgotten that a big piece of Mamdani’s campaign was simply “cities are cool and lots of people enjoy living in them” which in and of itself dismantles alot of rightwing talking points

Pardon me for freaking out over Mayor Mamdani. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have a politician who’s kind, honest and literate

New: Conde Nast fired four employees who were among a group that confronted the company's head of human resources on Wednesday over the decision to fold Teen Vogue into Vogue/recent cuts. Employees who were fired included journalists from the New Yorker, Wired, and Bon Appétit.

We don’t often find whimsy at work so it’s extra delightful when we do. I use Asana for project management and one of the things I love about it is “celebrations” — every time you mark a task done, a little unicorn or other magical animal goes flying across your screen 😄🦄 Day 5, #30daysofwhimsy

"'They’re spending more money than I would even tax them,' [Mamdani] said in an interview with MSNBC last week."

This is the message. Make it clear that these billionaires aren't just worried about losing money. They're worried about losing the ability to exchange their money for power.
