My dog and two cats love to throw up on the floor and they represent 60% of the household. As a leader I can't just ignore public opinion so I also throw up on the floor sometimes to stay popular

Does anyone else feel like here in America the main parties have a moral disagreement not just a political one? Like there are some solid political arguments for "why should my taxes go to feeding other peoples kids" but also you just shouldn't need a political reason for that

Man. I am embarrassed to be an American right now. Real plaques that are now hanging in the white house. If history should remember me at all and I die an American, I hope it remembers me as someone who had 0 pride in his country

This current iteration of AI is not a viable path to AGI or anything like that, and AI companies are spending far more then they could ever hope to earn. The AI bubble is doomed to pop and AI will be reserved for more reasonable scale tasks then what we see now. It's not going away but it's not AGI

Garcia requested to be deported to costa rica and costa rica agreed to take him, so the government lied under oath so they could send him to a gulag anyway. The cruelty is the point y'all

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

The world's richest 0.001% now control 3x as much wealth as the entire bottom half of humanity combined.

56,000 wealthy individuals have more than roughly 4 billion people.

Read that back.
Just 0.001% hold three times the wealth of poorest half of humanity, report finds
Data from World Inequality Report also showed top 10% of income-earners earn more than the other 90%

Any one of us could be in the next apartment building that ICE raids in the middle of the night.

Any one of us could be on the next boat that Trump bombs on a whim.

Any one of us could be detained for hours despite being a U.S. citizen.

Authoritarianism hurts all of us.

One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.

Young people bear the brunt of that imbalance.

Be a housing fan.

Anyone else feel like if there isn't an easily externally evident indicator there is something wrong, the entire medical system just immediately resorts to gaslighting you into thinking you your symptoms cannot possibly be real

According to a new study, members of Congressional leadership perform 47% better in stock market trades than their rank-and-file peers, thanks to access to nonpublic information.

Today would be a great day to ban ALL elected officials from trading stock, don't you think?

As someone with long covid I concur
Fentanyl. Drug Overdoses, including Fentanyl, are not even in the top 20 causes of death in the USA. Cancer, Diabetes, Covid, Heart Disease all in the top 10, and all have had their research funding cut. They aren't murdering just Venezuelans. However they are killing us much slower.

my “AI is over” anecdote is that my wife was hired over the summer to write scripts for a big tech company explaining how to use their AI tools and after many rounds of revisions, the latest notes said “we’re finding a lot of AI fatigue among our users” and to remove all references to AI
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother
