Okay hi, I’m Graham. Grumpy Montrealer, imposter historian, lover of music, hater of capitalism. Will mostly be using this to share music recommendations. I send out a newsletter with a mixtape and some writing every month or so, if you’re interested: anything-everything.ghost.io

2 years of genocide. I mourn the dead, and I mourn the living. None of us will ever be the same, none of us should ever be the same.

Every morning things seem a little more horrific, but sometimes you also get to wake up to an absolutely gorgeous surprise collab from two of your favourite artists working right now. Hallelujah.

Very grateful for 'Duvet' from Ida Urd & Ingri Høyland, released a few weeks ago by Balmat, just in time for the leaves to turn. Exceedingly gentle, ornately detailed, at once intensely calming and emotionally engaging. Incredible stuff.

Toronto comrades: “Our work…makes up the raw material that arts institutions require to function. It is the collective withdrawal of our work, not only its content, that underlies our leverage in forcing institutions to reckon with our demands.”

Two police chiefs in Canada are on the boards of a pro-Israel advocacy charity. The president of the Canadian Association of Police is also listed, alongside business and political leaders. Experts and advocates are very concerned. My latest @readthemaple.bsky.social.
Police Involvement With Pro-Israel Charity Raises Concerns
“We have seen increasing police aggression and baseless arrests and prosecutions against those protesting Israel’s genocide.”

this tendency within contemporary liberalism is intimately connected with its aversion to acknowledging past or present colonialism

Liberals are unwilling to admit that there is a form of politics that exists in the world that centers around causing harm for pleasure, destroying things, and looting the rubble, and they're unwilling to admit that this politics has a stranglehold on the right

“To stand with Palestine, then, is not merely an act of solidarity with a remote and unconnected struggle somewhere far away; it is a stance against the broader structures of domination that sustain exploitation and oppression at home and abroad.”

Loved this excellent primer on the political economic context of the Zionist settler-colonial project in Palestine from @versobooks.bsky.social. It’s succinct but also far-reaching in scope, and could be an amazing resource for groups looking to get on the same page in terms of big-picture analysis.

Made a mixtape that's mostly chill ambient/drone, and wrote a bit about how neoliberalism isn't so incompatible with fascism

you'd either have to have no soul or no brain to characterize the Giller Prize's *hypothetical* demise as a "casualty" in the context of an ongoing genocide

Made a new mixtape for June – mostly drone, mostly with a cello way out front – and wrote a bit about how neoliberalism is (not) over:
