#AdoorableThursday at the Church of the Holy Innocents, Highnam.

Lovely lattice-work porch gates with tiny thorns seemingly carved into the pattern; a reference to the Crown of Thorns?

I may have seen thorn detailing in the work of Sydney Barnsley (look carefully at the vertical sections in pic).

This #Egyptian faience hippo statuette is painted with lotus flowers and buds, found in its marshy environment. The lotus flowers - closing every night and reopening again in the morning - also represented regeneration and rebirth. 🏺 1/ @alisonfisk.bsky.social
