It is purely anecdotal but AOC got like five hundred times the coverage for her appearance at Munich than Newsom has so far

There seems to be a lot of discussion about Gavin Newsom today.

I wanted to re-share this piece that I wrote, because I have a lot of center-to-left Dems that follow me that want to understand.

There are very good reasons transgender people do not like Gavin Newsom.
Why Transgender People Are Not Feeling Gavin Newsom

This is what Gavin Newsom will never say and it’s the bare minimum to repair the world
AOC: "Extreme level of wealth inequality leads to social instability and drives authoritarianism, right-wing populism, and really dangerous domestic internal politics. That is a direct outcome of the failure of democracies over decades to deliver."

When AOC runs in 2028 it’s gonna be Obama-mania pretty much immediately

I'm not the paranoid type but this article+illustration is a psyop
A base that has long made pragmatic, sober decisions appears increasingly attracted to charismatic outsiders who promise to break from the party’s failures of the last decade. They see their party’s leaders as feckless and inept.

It’s the Democratic Tea Party, with a twist. trib.al/mC5cBDA

The far right has no political future
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
Nick Fuentes: “The number one political enemy in America is women. … They have to be imprisoned.”

It's a cliche now that both parties are the same leadership with different branding and form, but in some really important ways it's the form that is the same. Cults of loyalty and conformity where it's NEVER the fault of leaders and always the fault of perfidious voters.

We need a federal jobs guarantee, not even to protect from AI so much as to undermine the displacement logic of AI hype
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

The world is suddenly not zero-sum only when it serves billionaires, “Pareto optimality,” or “trickle down” neoliberalism.

The Left has never reckoned with the full implications of functional finance and as a result we STILL talk about available jobs and resources as a finite or natural number rather than a provisioning process that can be dilated to any qualitative shape and size.

The country isn’t big enough for both 5 year olds apparently
Gonzales on Liam Ramos and his family: "They're not gonna qualify for asylum. So what do you do with all the people that go through the process and do not qualify for asylum? You deport them. I understand that 5-year-old and it breaks my heart. I also think, what about that 5-year-old US citizen?"

NB: The UK govt owns the Student Loans Company, via which it directly funds most home students’ university places.

Framing graduates as indebted to this ‘company’ for the rest of their working lives is an accounting trick that both punishes the pursuit of education and undermines its public value.

I'm an AOC 2028 early booster but primarying this moron would be the most cathartic thing in the world
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

There are very important movement critiques of extractive media forms unaccountable representation. But these can also be elevated to an epistemology that represses mediation:

“Reality is here (where I am).
Real politics is here (in my channels).
Anything mediated, scaled or discursive is suspect.”
