I was talking with a gen-z person who was really active on Zohran's campaign and asked them if they any thoughts on why he's so good with older people. They mentioned noticing that older gens hug each other, but people of their own gen basically don't. I was stunned.

So for context, I got my first iPhone sophomore year of college, so probably 19? And Facebook hit my junior year of highschool, which might be the bigger shift.

Anyone much younger than me doesn't know what the world's like not filtered through those platforms. Idk my own point honestly 😀

Just turned 37

In a lot of ways I still feel young.... As much energy, drive, and joy as ever, and probably more.

The biggest shift is when I started regularly interacting w/ what I call smartphone natives, which is only 4-5 years younger than me

Question for those who no longer consider yourselves young: when, or how, did you come to hold this self-perception?

Was it simply upon reaching a certain age? Or was it based more so on some change in your perspective or personality?

(I'm 45 and noticing myself undergoing a personality change.)

A man in Wyoming calls ICE on his Amazon delivery driver for speaking Spanish.

The Amazon driver displays incredible grace and kindness under pressure.

Imagine ordering cheap goods from the billionaire owned corporation and then threatening the person who delivers it to you?

Thanks for sharing. What I'm taking away from this is that there's such a thing as enough of a difference to make it much easier to enjoy those differences, and there's such a thing as differences that are small enough that they tend to encourage antagonism and a strong desire to change the other.

Mm, a powerful memory/association. By the time I was born, 3 of my 4 grandparents had already died, so I suspect that for me the paradigm for "elder age" was subconsciously set singularly by my maternal grandmother, who was in her early 60s to late 70s when I was a child.
