The unintentional theme of our final day of tabletop studio was “games that are dumb (complimentary).”

I’ve forgotten this sometimes but being able to discover something you like, curate it, and make time to enjoy it *is* intelligence, connecting with art is intelligence, empathy is intelligence, the way of the dullard is to find nothing meaningful in art except for a way to seem snidely clever

Great read! Makes me think about RPG's debts to wargaming -- hexes make sense if you are presenting two players with terrain for creating emergent objectives (the flank of my opponent's line; the hill where they have their cannons), but without the opposition, everything truly is pointcrawl.

Clearly the answer is @hinokodo.com and @gregisonthego.bsky.social must have a no-holds-barred cage match to determine if the article should be split or not.

“Against Cop Shit“ is my “Tom Holland Lio Syncing ‘Umbrella’.” I see it, I repost it.

Expel cop shit from your hearts.
"'We are both scamming each other, you and I, and I intend to win.' When a classroom becomes adversarial, of course, as cop shit presumes, then there must be a clear winner and loser."

This game rules. No prep, easy to teach, hilarious gameplay. I played this for my family, none of whom play RPGs, last Christmas. We had cocktails, dressed up fancy, and told stories of spirits running amok. Highly recommend.
Do you think your band of Halloween nightmares could run Christmas better than that skeleton guy? You're in the right place!

Stumble your way through a successful holiday season, or make a hilarious mess of things in Spirits of the Season, a #ttrpg for 3-6 players.

Golf courses -> larp grounds (or public sex forests), Data centers -> laser tag arenas, Distribution hubs -> go kart tracks.

Tell your college-age kids to start learning ARG and location-specific game design.
Everyone is getting upset about the data centers. They pollute a lot and use a lot of energy and will eventually be very ugly/huge vacant buildings. And I understand being mad about that. Until you consider the state of the lazer tag industry at this moment, and how much help that sector needs.

the primary thing that TPUSA provides to young conservatives is a blueprint for weaponizing the abject cowardice of university administrators against individual teachers and instructors, and university admins should take a long look in the mirror and think about what that says about them
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Use alt text always, but specifically *to your messaging ends*! People often post guides about "color, subject, angle," etc. but I think that always going so broad does a disservice to rhetoric. Think about why you put the image on the post, then describe the parts of it that matter for your post!
Also: those who "use" Alt Text but are clearing using AI summaries of images that don't accurately describe said images are just as bad as those who ignore Alt Text completely.

Reducing "Jack Nicholson crazy eyed nodding gif" to "a man looks up" is a shitposter's crime against humanity

What playmaps? Oh, friends, I am so excited about my playmaps! I am so proud of them, they are printed indelibly on soft, sturdy, machine-washable blankets, and I package them up with all the info you need to feel great about gifting them to kids. Learn more here: www.portablecity.net/playmaps/

Drew up a little river city with the 5-yr-old to play @possibleworlds.bsky.social’s “Beak Feather and Bone” together. Will report back tomorrow after we play (it’s bedtime now, so we paused after setup).

Did you attend the Indie Night Market and want to talk to us about how it went (and report on PAXU more broadly)? HMU
We've been chatting about Indie Markets regularly lately and sad to be missing the one at this year's PAXU. We'd love to hear a report from the floor if anyone attending would like to join us.
Threw together a quick poster / flyer for the event this Saturday. Come check out some cool indie games!
