Just getting around to catching up on the news of the day, and can I just say "Fuck Mike Braun"?
Can you please run the industry? Because everybody scrabbling over pennies and not seeing the precipice in front of us is rough.

And god forbid somebody actually gets out a color eink reader with a foldable screen, because then it’s over for monthlies…
Void Rivals had TEN printings of #1. Most with new covers.

It’s like that old Dennis Leary “coffee flavored coffee” bit…
It also warps order numbers for subsequent issues! Say you have a book with 15 equal-order covers, and you order 2 of each. One person buys one of each cover, not on a preorder. The issue sells out. Do you order 30 of #2? Or 16?

Or honestly, more like 10 due to natural attrition.

Yeah. I like a lot of the books coming out from Dynamite, but their variants are just insane.

Darkwing Duck #1 had like 25.
Buying variants is, in most cases, for people who are ONLY looking at the cover and not reading the content.

It’s for those folks sitting on that CGC bubble and lookin’ all pointy and when that pops once and for all, there will be publishers and comic shops that will not survive it.
We get people who get MAD because we didn’t get a 1:100 of a book our sales numbers tell us we’re going to sell 30 of.

Did ThunderCats NEED like 47 covers for issue 1?

It did not. And I think I am exaggerating that number, but only by a little. It’s bonkers.
Variants are EXTREMELY out of hand.

They used to be an event. Now they are a standard. They feed into the book flippers who want that 1:50 so they can resell it for more, and try to force a local shop to buy more of something they know they’re not going to sell through lest they buy elsewhere.
I’m not saying it isn’t broken as hell. It is. I wish we could support everything half as much as it deserves. But lights gotta stay on too.
You’re not wrong, but at the shop level we buy everything ahead of time, and what we don’t sell, we eat.

Without sales on Absolute Batman, how do we afford to take a chance on The Pedestrian?

Margins are thin enough, and a lot of things eat into them.
Could be YOUR significant comic for an insanely good price.

Just sayin'...
I think this might be my favorite of the Muppet tribute covers.

Spoken like someone with a murder basement…
They are doing some minor construction on the empty storefront next door, and all the banging and scraping the week before Halloween is a little off-putting.

okay grandpa, let's get you to bed
If Spock were human, I believe his response to this article would be, “Go to hell”.

If he were human…
Printing this out for…reasons, and I have to admit it’s kinda more terrifying half-done…
For reasons I do not understand yet fully endorse, this has been stuck in my head for the past hour...

Not upset about it, that's for sure!

I really love when people come into the shop and see mad libs, because nobody’s EVER mad at them, and people are always happy to see them around.
I certainly beg of it, “please” on a regular basis…
