There has been an increasing sense in Minneapolis that we are on our own, that our elected representatives are unwilling and/or unable to take action to get these murderous Nazi thugs out of our community. I really hope that changes today. The time for pleading TV hits ended weeks ago.

I just responded to the scene at 26th and Nicollet shortly after the observer was shot. They teargassed and/or pepper sprayed Jana Shortal of KARE11 at the scene and she was being treated when I walked up. ICE have a fancy camera they are using to scan the faces of the crowd.

The video is as bad as you can imagine. There is a scuffle on the ground and a gun goes off. The agents back away, one raisies a gun and shoots the man (I believe) 5 times after the initial shot, while the man is on the ground. The man’s torso and head are obscured by a car. Still terrible to see.

Clergy arrests are powerful symbolism and the clergy that deploy that symbolism are usually very conscious of that.

Priests aren't required to wear collars all day every day, it's a deliberate choice when they're in clerical apparel

Vallor's paper really hit the students hard - it was about up-skilling cases where automation replaces a useless skill and gives us more time, vs. cases where automation replaces a crucial skill and de-skills us, makes us fall out of practice. Her core cases are about AI-based moral judgment.

Today is, among other things, a reminder that you don't get a general strike by posting that we should have a general strike.

You get a general strike—on the rare occasions you do—by the long slow slog of building organizing power with those around you in response to local conditions.
