Dalkey branch of The Gutter Bookshop at 20 Railway Road (opp. Finnegan's). Local bookshop with books, gifts & stationery. Marta & May post randomly.
Gutter Dalkey turned 12 today! 💚📚
What started as a pop-up (that never popped-down) evolved into the most gorgeous haven for bookworms.

Thank you to all of you beauts who have supported us through it all accepting grumpy recommendations, sulky replies, and reluctant smiles (and that's only Marta).

16 years ago today we opened the doors to Dublin's newest bookshop. That @gutterbookshop.bsky.social continues to thrive today brings me so much joy. We created something that brought people together & celebrated books & reading. I feel like I added something good to the world & I'm so proud of that.

A real treat, and possibly my favourite Irish indie Nazi vampire comic of all time! A must for any discerning reader.
It’s Spooky season once again, so not better time to pump my WWII Vampire tale Nazferatu. It was once described by @seamas.bsky.social as “A lovely offering of Pulpy delights for you to sink your fascist-bashing teeth into”

It’s available to buy here

Congratulations to Vidyan Ravinthiran, who has jointly won (with Karen Solie) the Forward Prize for Best Collection with Avidyā (Bloodaxe). Its brilliant final poem, "as a child", describes how an early speech impediment led him to be "a scrutineer of sound" with a love of "the avid void of English"

Our booksellers aren't psychic, but one of them DOES play the Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack on loop often enough that there is a non-zero chance of Korean tourists walking into the shop just as the Saja Boys start serenading customers.

Book club book of the month is @joannechocolat.bsky.social's "Vianne"! Prequel to "Chocolat" and a fantastic read that recaptures and enhances the aura of the first. Had to make a li'l shrine for it at the till, of course.
