We’ve* seen a lot of this sort of thing across various platforms and now even over the phone where attackers pretend to be incident response teams or IT help for remote workers. It can be incredibly deceptive, so please do not think you are immune.

Right now we're hearing about increased phishing attempts that go like this:
Attackers pretend to be Signal or Signal Support, then message people and try to get them to hand over their verification code or Signal PIN. Information that can let the attacker take over the victim's Signal account. 2/

PSA: tips to protect yourself from scams on Signal.
Every major comms platform has to contend w phishing, impersonation, & scams. Sadly.
Signal is major, and as we've grown we've heard about more of these attacks--scammy people pretending to be something or someone to trick and abuse others. 1/

As I said in the piece, get out there and check out a: what you need and b: what's on offer around the traps. There are plenty of providers with different models and capabilities - this is a really good problem to have. Lots of choice.
