The silicon microprocessor computer chip, the backbone of modern life, is about to leave the consumer marketplace. We are not prepared for the end of personal computing.
I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

My car's catalytic converter got stolen last week so I've been without a car & have been walking/using public transit. Unfortunately, this has solved 90% of the problems in my life with its social and mental health benefits, while adding the slight problem of realizing motorists now want to kill me.

WOW 🤯

The number of times a State of Emergency has been declared this year in New Zealand ALREADY matches the 2025 total.

It’s February.

This is what the Climate Crisis looks like.

I've been thinking about this for the last couple of days.

ACT believe that if you reduce government then communities will step up to fill the gaps.

But the communities that fill in the gaps are never ACT voters.

ACT is the party for people who expect free labour but it's never them.
I dislike how it reinforces the ACT Party line of "if you make government smaller then communities will find their own solutions" but it seems like folly to wait for government solutions out of spite for David Seymour

Government’s plan to import LNG for electricity generation would cost households and businesses up to $8.3bn

Same volume of electricity could be delivered through a $2.5b investment in rooftop solar panels and hot water heat pumps

Dear journalists using A.I.: You do realize that those programs are a two-way mirror, right? Like, you get that you're just handing over confidential, proprietary, often-sensitive information about your sources to OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google, right? You get that what you're doing is terrible, right

celsius is the SI measurement in that it is integrated with other SI measurements, fahrenheit is the Imperial measurement in that it is integrated with other Imperial measurements
Celsius is the scientist temperature measurement in that it’s the most conceptually coherent , Fahrenheit is the engineer temperature measurement in that it’s actually optimized to be useful for it’s main use case of communicating everyday temperatures.

This is how the environment was managed in the 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s until the establishment of the Ministry in late 1980s.

There was no one to advocate for the environment & if you think Chris Bishop (lord god emperor of all ministries) will do that, you are in a cult.

This is FUCKED IN THE HEAD
FUCK SAKE

THERE ARE VAROUS STATES OF EMERGENCY AROUND THE COUNTRY DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER & THEY WANT TO DISESTABLISH THE MINISTRY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.

GO TO HELL YOU HIDEOUS CUNTS

At least is not like the time we had to memtest the 6TiB nodes…
