Choose your own media adventure: @nytimes.com says Abigail Spanberger is obsessing over Trump. @politico.com says no, she's actually campaigning squarely on an economic message.

(Politico is right, and NYT's route to their conclusion was tortured and unconvincing.)

"I hope your beeper doesn't go off."

A year ago today, a racist tried to make a 'joke' about me being killed by Israel. It was the 1st time I've ever walked off of live TV. That night CNN said they'd ban the racist from their air. But in the year since, I myself haven't been invited back on CNN.
Absolutely insane moment on CNN

The dream of every Muslim is simply to be treated the same as any other New Yorker.

And yet, for too long, we have been told to ask for less than that, and endure hatred and bigotry in the shadows.

No more.

I'm so sick of this imbecilic argument. There is a simple explanation for why American leftists/anti-Zionists pay exceptional attention to Israel's domination of the Palestinians: because Israel gets more support from the U.S. than any other country in the world.

“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

Pete Buttigieg endorses aid restrictions to Israel, Seth Moulton is running away from AIPAC at full speed, Mallory McMorrow says it's a genocide, meanwhile Cory Booker says that asking if Netanyahu is a war criminal is unfair.

What the hell is happening? I take a stab at it in the piece below.
Democrats Are Getting a Brutal Lesson in How Much the Politics on Israel Have Changed
From Pete Buttigieg to Gavin Newsom, party bigwigs are finding out the hard way that the old platitudes don’t work anymore.

Democrats should be drawing up legislation right now, this very minute, to bar Trump from helping himself to $230 million in taxpayer funds from DOJ. Challenge Republicans to hold a vote on it. Push this so hard in the media that every GOP Senate and House candidate is pressed to comment on it.

Black lung is still killing America’s coal miners. Last week, a group of black lung patients made the long journey to Washington D.C. with a simple plea for Trump’s Department of Labor: enforce the silica rule, and stop this plague.

My report for @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/poli...
Trump Has Handed Coal Miners a “Death Sentence.” But They’re Not Going Without a Fight.
After the government betrayed them by refusing to enforce a crucial workplace health rule, a group of coal miners traveled to DC to put Trump on notice.

Along with the $20 billion U.S. taxpayer bailout to Argentina, the Trump admin announced another $20 billion for Argentina from private banks. But the banks won’t lend the money without a guarantee from the federal government. So it’s a $40B taxpayer bailout.

EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.
