Generally, when it snows, I shovel my house and two houses down, because I know the people who live there, and I'm out shoveling anyhow. It's a courtesy, and I don't mind, and I don't expect accolades. But this article sez *not* doing that makes you a bum. www.inquirer.com/life/inq2/sh...
I always shovel beyond my own sidewalk, but my neighbor doesn’t. Am I expecting too much?
"Yeah and if there are elderly people on your block, that should just be automatic. You know, we're trying to live in a society!"

3 out of 4 Gen Z Republicans think Hitler was a "great leader", "under[stands] where he was coming from" or thinks his brand of nationalism was "all that."

Tom Cruise was fantastic in Magnolia and Tropic Thunder. He's a true chameleon and stellar actor who's outsized star power has kept him in crowd-pleasing blockbusters. I will definitely go see this. And yes to the poster art!
no idea if this will be a good movie or not, I’m just ecstatic to see a poster like this for an upcoming movie — peak of the artform, IMO

He's absolutely on point about how to reach everyone and drive usage of public transit, but there is also the question of where to get the money that was previously provided by fare capture. That number is not insignificant, and the MTA is not awash in a surplus of funding.
Zohran Mamdani explains that thousands and thousands of New Yorkers are already eligible for free and reduce public transportation, but because of the bureaucratic hurdles they never get enrolled in the program.

That's why he wants to just make the bus free.

what I want trans kids, queer kids, and gender nonconforming kids to know:

you are loved

you are so much more powerful than the ghouls using your healthcare as a political pawn, and you WILL outlive them (they know this, and it is why they're attacking you)

Your daily reminder that an administration that is anti-anti-fascist is, by definition, pro-fascist.

That is also definitely a crop of a long zoom shot which has the effect of flattening a face and removing perspective, which is 100% unflattering in all circumstances. This is a hit job, well-executed.
I'm genuinely about to start crying at this close up picture of Karoline Leavitt from Vanity Fair. this woman is 28 years old lmfao how are you going to believe in lip injections but not vaccines

This kind of reminds me of Philly's City Hall, which was also much loathed upon its construction. It has interesting features! I like it! More weird buildings, please.
Architecture approaching the Red Bank NJ preferred School of Ruritanian Naffness.
But so long as local NIMBYs love it , and they do....

Pretty sure that's a code requirement to "break up the massing." But I like it! It certainly doesn't look generic.
Very happy to hear that 60 new homes are coming to Westfield NJ, and, without wanting to be a hater at all, new homes are good, what the hell is going on with this architecture?? www.nj.com/union/2025/1...

Time for a primary opponent or 3 to start ramping up for D5. Jeffrey Young Jr. has to go.
All 17 of Philadelphia’s City Council members have indicated they will seek reelection in 2027.

If they follow through, that election would mark the first time all members simultaneously asked voters for new four-year terms since 1951.
All 17 City Council members may be running for reelection. That would be the first time in at least 75 years.

Making art is a gamble. Sometimes it works out, most of the time it doesn't. True for books, paintings, music, film, games, whatever. To fund your art-making time you need money. It is no surprise that most artists come from wealth. Art is never just art. It involves commerce, yours or others.

My mom literally asked us what our elevation was when we bought a house. Flood risk is real!
This paper by Huang et al. shows that flood shocks lower rents for ground-floor units, especially in low-lying areas. Socioeconomic factors influence relocation to higher floors. Supports resilient urban planning. spkl.io/63324AiQtY #UrbanResilience #Flood #Housing

Trump not only speaks ill of the recently murdered, but appears to take credit by proxy for the murder itself. What an execrable stain of a man. What a horrible, disgusting person.

I love records - playing them, collecting them, looking at them. But I will never argue that they sound better. The frequency response continuously degrades from the outside to the inside of the record. It is kind of shocking if you move the needle back and forth.

Most of this is malarkey, but decoupling health insurance from state borders is a thing that should happen. Right now, if your health insurance is an HMO, you are not covered (aside from emergency hospitalization and ambulance, an ACA req) out of state. Period. It is truly awful.
Rand Paul: "My plan is this -- let people on the Obamacare market, which is about 4% of America, a small number of people, let them buy their insurance through Costco, Sam's Club, Amazon ... "

Neither Musk nor Zuckerberg architected anything regarding AI. They're just rich pieces of shit taking credit for the effort of others.
I guess it's fitting that it's a reimagined, worse version of someone else's artwork

This passage in the article is badly written. The median income for a family of four is $71,640, so 60% of that - which is the target threshold for 90% of H.O.M.E. bond proceeds - is $42,984. That's a pretty key bit of information that readers should not be left to calculate on their own.
