THIS!

And your regular reminder that your ‘just a cold’ could be considerably worse for others.

I know that, realistically, people are done masking here.

Not least cos the UK pretty much has a fucken moratorium on talking about COVID, masks, etc at the moment.

But if you can avoid spreading your seasonal germs of any kind, please do.

(Cos OMFGs I have enuf wrong with me already aarg 😭)

Got snapped at by a doctor to take my mask off on Tuesday 🙄

‘You’re not going to catch anything in here’

Like, you sure mate?
hanaayoob.co.uk
I’ve not encountered that one yet 🤦🏽‍♀️

I think a lot of the time the grief of this feels so much deeper because I work adjacent to research.

It feels like there’s so much promise & hope in many ways, our understanding of human biology grows and grows and yet so many of us are still searching for answers…

Sometimes I want to scream that all healthcare has to offer re me getting so ill so often can be summed up as either:

1. The tests are all clear, nothing’s wrong with you

-or-

2. The tests are all clear, we don’t know what to do
hanaayoob.co.uk
Actually nah that ignores no. 3. It’s just a cold, just try fluids and rest 🙄

Then do that again in a few weeks time. Then again.

Mostly important but in all seriousness I have a pretty good system of batching by project/client. Stops me from getting exhausted just from switching mental gears.

😂 unfortunately not a good freelance strategy

I think it was still at ghastly from the last bout of illness before this one. What’s next up from ghastly?

I set myself the stupid task of clearing it today which was probably not realistic even before most of my spoons were spent dealing with the leak
hanaayoob.co.uk
Petition for chronically ill folks to not have to deal with any other shit pls 🙏🏽

Brought to you by my first day back at work after being off sick (again) starting with

- smashing a bowl while trying to get breakfast

- finding the bathroom had sprung a fairly significant leak into my office

Full house of flu jabs today 💪🏼 💉

My father is a ridiculous human
WhatsApp message from Dad ‘New River Coots very pleased to see me again....all this year's Cooties have left the nest and gone to University...except for Derek he fell in with a bad gang of Moorhens and ended up convicted of Fowl play....’

Amazing! Thanks Felicity

Science folks who were active on the other site - can anyone remember who made the edited version of this?! 🧪

I don’t think it was me but honestly it could’ve been 🙈
Text ‘the world needs science, science needs women’ with 5 pictures of women doing science - all are white with brown hair ans slim and might even all be the same person The same image edited to include a range of skin tones and hair colours (including blue). One woman has been made larger and another uses a wheelchair.

OK, dice doodle games from our workshops!

The idea is these games can be played anywhere you can doodle, even if you only have 1 pen/pencil & plain/lined/etc paper. You can use a D6 or an app to generate random numbers.

You can use any media tho, & easily make them more colourful or complex...

Gotta write up the notes on last week's workshops & games.

It's hard to express how it helps to get a minute to be ridiculous, & to draw absolute friggin nonsense in these exhaustingly fascist times.

I'll share the dice doodle-rules that gave us Blinky when I've done, in case anyone else needs em.
A sketchbook drawing of a ridiculous imaginary mythical creature called Blinky the Waveybeast. Blinky has 5 eyes, all of which are closed right now, 4 curved horns, and pointy teeth in a smiling mouth. They have a long neck, a bead necklace, and a body that is shaped like a cloud and covered in small polka dots. Blinky also has 1 large waving tentacle, 3 skinny wavey tails, and 2 sturdy legs with a lot of toes. A sketchbook page with a map of an island doodled on it. It's labelled Blinky's Eye-land, spelled like Eyeball eye and land. There's a compass and some scrawled numbers in one corner, and a giant octopus waving out of the sea labelled 'thar be octopods.' The island itself is marked as having cliffs around its edges called the cliffs of doo-oo-oo-oo-oom, trees and plants growing on it, and tall pointy mountains in the middle, the tallest of which is labelled pointy McPointy's peak. There's also a collection of trees labelled Forest of Blarg, and a small house for a mythical beast. We aren't sure if it's Blinky's house, it doesn't say. A very rough doodle of a flowering plant labelled as the greater grater flower. The first greater is spelled like greater meaning bigger, and second grater spelled like cheese grater. Because the petals are like mini cheese graters. It has two flowers with five gratery petals each, the leaves with three lines each, and a long thin stem. There's a note telling us it only grows on Blinky's Island.

One day maybe I’ll stop being surprised at the total disdain & disinterest doctors can treat you with on your worst days

Sameeee

I had this real sense in the run up to the election that if Labour won, many of their voters would stop paying attention. And it’s been validated a thousand times over.

Thank you for this thread, I really needed it. I’m so exhausted by it all. And I’m so exhausted of people who should know better trying to convince me this government isn’t as bad as I think 🙄

I will do 😂
