Yellow Stainer (Agaricus xanthodermus) and Brownedge Bonnet (Mycena olivaceomarginata) seen on yesterday's visit to the allotment. The former was on a road verge & the latter on a grass path on the allotment.

A poor photo but you van just see the brown gill edges of this Brownedge Bonnet (Mycena olivaceomarginata).

Yellow Stainer (Agaricus xanthodermus), sliced in two. It has a phenolic smell and yellowing at the base of the stipe. Not deadly poisonous but could cause a tummy upset if eaten.

In Celtic folklore, the red squirrel is sometimes seen as a messenger between the living and the spirit world. Its quick, nimble movements reinforced the idea that it could traverse different realms.

The cloisters at Mission San Juan Capistrano in California, with very deep shadows. Taken in 1988 - a scan of a photograph I took.

Shadows being cast in cloisters of the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo which was built on top of the Incan Temple of the Sun / Qoricancha which is still clearly visible in Cuzco, Peru. Photo taken in 2003.

The shadows being cast across the white marble floors and arches at the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca in 2017.

Planographic #monoprint. I sprayed the plate with too much water; then blotted it in a panic. I call this #Solstice, as I see figures worshipping the bright glowing sunrise.

I love the woods in the morning. Today was no different!

A very large flush of chicken of the woods mushrooms on a hardwood log. They appear to be bright orange and yellow waves outside the bark. There hasn’t been any rain for weeks yet here they are.

A small flush of hen of the woods mushrooms at the base of an oak tree.

White bane berry aka Doll’s Eyes are white berries with black irises on a central stem that is dark red. All of the foliage is dead and only the stalk remains.

Another flush of chicken of the woods mushrooms on a tall hardwood stump . These look like pale pancakes from the side since they are older and dried. It was the first thing I saw even before hitting the trail!

Ok #FungiFriends, this one is a little odd. They sort of look like big bulbs of garlic. This is an area that has a heavy ganoderma presence from old tree roots, but I've never seen them grow like this. Your thoughts are welcome, and happy #FungiFriday!
