Shocked by the awful death of Rob Reiner. I spoke with him for over an hour last night. We talked about his work and his plans for the future. I always enjoyed his company. We met at his Dad's in 1975. Last thing he said to me was "See you next year.." Such a terrible end. Such a sweet man.

Bring back the 72 minute heist film
Watched PLUNDER ROAD (1957). Another solid noir in Kino Lorber's noir XXII box set. This one's a simple heist film starring Gene Raymond, Elisha Cook Jr., Wayne Morris, Steven Ritch, Stafford Repp. They steal gold off a train, load up trucks and start 900-mile trek. Story wastes no time.

Based on a short story by W.W.Jacobs, Olwen Wymark's grandfather, who inspired #PatrickWymark 's stage name. In a way, it's a pity that Wymark and #RachelHerbert didn't do a TV remake of FOOTSTEPS IN THE FOG rather than TOP OF THE LADDER in 1967.

Border TV was the joint first channel to start showing Gerry Anderson's UFO in September 1970. After a strong start though screenings became more sporadic with a few new episodes mixed with repeats. It didn't complete a first run until May 1975, almost 5 years after starting.
