Once upon a time I was a games journalist for PCWorld, PC Gamer, etc. Let's give another one of these Twitter replacements a shot.

This is one of those things that I think is quietly important – when these people are talking shit about cities, Portland or Minneapolis or New York or Charlotte or wherever, you have to loudly say, “no, fuck you, you’re lying, that town and its people whip ass and you’re the asshole”

I started crying, legitimately crushed. At least thousands of people went to the museum to celebrate him last month for his 30th birthday. www.sfgate.com/local/articl...

If "Black Friday" deals are going to start November 1, I feel like we can cast the phrase "Cyber Monday" into the dustbin alongside "Surfing the Net," "Interwebs," "Pwned."

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

If only the tech companies invented a tool that would pop up and say "Hey bud, the review you're writing of this pizza place (and how they didn't refill your water often enough) is starting to sound a little Sephiroth-y. Would you like to start over?"

My nerdy Clair Obscur question is:

Do people not age or does the Paintress wipe out two years at a time?

If she paints 34 on a rock this year, all 34 year olds disappear. Easy. But: If she paints 33 next year, people who were 33 are now 34, meaning it's the formerly-32-year-olds who disappear.

This was one of the most interesting and exciting games I played for IGF judging and I hope people check it out regardless of where it ends up.
Our upcoming game HORSES was preemptively banned from Steam, with no path to appeal. The game will still launch next week on December 2nd and will be available on EGS, GOG, Humble, and Itch for $4.99. Here is a detailed FAQ covering what happened: horses.wtf/BannedFromSt...

If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

This is my concern, as the celebration winds down. We saw it happen in SF with Chesa Boudin. He quickly became the go-to reason for everything broken in SF, even when it made no sense—but it worked, and they got him recalled.
The full weight of western capitalism is about to laser focus on NYC. The robber barons failed to win and will panic. They will sabotage NYC because the system cannot allow Mamdani's term to be successful. They cannot allow people to believe things can be better. Your job now is to hold the line.
