Childless dog lady. Still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
“Zobel’s words and teary-eyed emotion went viral because it was such a shot of hope — that in a moment when hate is on public display in the streets of the US, “your average Joe” who’d once stood on the sidelines is now grabbing the American flag and taking the field to fight for their neighbors.”
SCOOP: I have the first interview with the 36-year-old South Jersey man whose tearful protest against an ICE raid at a school bus stop has been watched more than 3 million times

How a non-political Eagles fan Everyman became the face of ICE resistance

The horror stories rolling in from Minnesota are just the tip of the iceberg. This 20-year-old, who's lawfully present in the country, was arrested for being Latino, then jailed in a filthy cell where he couldn't even sit down. 18 days of illegal detention. democracyforward.org/wp-content/u...

This is the interview Donald Trump didn’t want you to see.

His FCC refused to air my interview with Stephen Colbert.

Trump is worried we’re about to flip Texas.

“Global trade has ruined the U.S. economy” is a crazy thing to try to complain about when your country has the highest GDP in the world by far.
I’m not even going to start on the “western culture” BS, which is address nicely in this letter and elsewhere.

A child dying of cancer spent her final days fighting to free her wrongfully detained father from ICE custody.

This comes just weeks after a mother from Maryland was denied the right to be at her son’s side as he died from cancer.

Not one dime for this cruelty.

Great 🧵
In 1854, after watching the federal government deploy 2000 federal troops and spend $40,000 sending Anthony Burns back into slavery, Boston's Amos Adams Lawrence said “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.”
Yesterday morning kids were sent running from their bus stop in panic because ICE showed up. This guy at today’s ICE Out of Lindenwold protest is a must watch 😭. @maddow.bsky.social

A 16 year old San Antonio kid was essentially killed by a football coaching staff during an offseason workout.

Players were subjected to punishment drills and repeatedly noted the distress of their teammate, to no avail.

After he collapsed, the rest of the team was compelled to continue the drill.

A day ago the EPA officially rejected the science on global warming.

Beyond "oh, that happened" I won't read about it. I won't silently evaluate the coverage of it, as I often do. This item is going into the "too stupid, too important to be that stupid, and too painful" bucket. Do you ever do that?

“An Economist/YouGov poll released Tuesday shows that 85% of U.S. adults agree with the statement “There are powerful elites who helped Epstein target and abuse young girls. They protected him and need to be investigated.” Only 3% of American adults disagree.”

85%!

- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

honestly tired of trying to convince people that trump's immigration policy is not really about violent undocumented immigrants or even just undocumented immigrants, but immigrants in general and even non-white people more broadly.
cool, cool. so we are sort of like citizens, but not really?

Trump nominated a legit white nationalist to a top post at the State Department. I asked him some basic questions about his belief in the “erasure of white culture”. Watch this embarrassing, fumbling answer. Like he has never before been asked to explain his views.

“Lincoln saw clearly that if we give up the principle of equality before the law, we have given up the whole game…At that point, all any of us can do is to hope that no one in power decides that we belong in one of the lesser groups.”

Lot of people counting on not being in one of the lesser groups.

So it’s a race: how quickly can a person’s family realize they were snatched and find a lawyer, and how quickly can that lawyer get a habeas petition of file? And is that faster than ICE can load the detainee on a plane to Texas?

It’s exhausting and terrifying. It can be life and death.

“Why should we care about other people not getting due process? We are all ultimately the government-its authority is derived from "we the people," and it is accountable to us for its conduct. Thus, when it deprives a person of due process, we are, in a very real sense, all responsible.”
BONUS RULING: Judge Thomas Johnston, a George W. Bush appoiintee in West Virginia, used a recent ruling to warn of the dangers of defying due process for immigrants because of what it could also mean for Americans. It's worth a read.

NEW: Federal judges are increasingly furious at what they see as a pattern / playbook of defiance by the Trump administration to court orders in immigration cases — in Minnesota and around the country.

How the Trump administration skirts — and defies — court rulings on ICE detentions
A POLITICO review of hundreds of cases brought by ICE detainees shows a pattern of noncompliance that has frustrated judges across the country.
